I’m aka as the Gut Punch News. You only use a sE dynamite if you have a very quiet mic like a SM7B or an EV RE20. The mics don’t need 48V power, but the sE dynamite does. If done right, you can lower your gain by 50% or more. Also, if your real good, use a mixer and you can take your gain to 0, and ramp your mic control to infinity. The later technic will be a game changer if you have a noisy room. @@ramirezwilliam8983

It is +28dB of clean gain and is much cleaner than just turning your interface preamp up. As soon as you plug this into a dynamic mic and engage phantom power on your interface, it is a world of difference.

Great video showcasing the dynamite, it’s really cool looking. But I am still a little unsure, why you prefer the cloudlifter over the fethead and the dynamite over the cloudlifter, since almost all of the advantages you list for the dynamite could also be said about the fethead. (And i think it’s Even smaller and cheaper.) Thanks for your answer :)
@AudioHotline5 жыл бұрын
HypeCom When I originally got my cloudlifter I put it up against a fethead. It came down quite simply to sound. The fethead wasn’t as clean as the cloudlifter. I loved the form factor but I went with the cloudlifter because it had better overall sound quality because that is more important. Some reasons I like the Dynamite: -Cleaner than the cloudlifter and fethead. -Boosts +3dB more than the cloudlifter and boosts a a little more than the fethead (+1dB hahaha) -Has the awesome form factor (like the fethead). -Cheaper than the cloudlifter but not much more expensive than the inferior fethead (IMO). So overall, sound quality is most important to me. Since the cloudlifter was cleaner than the fethead, I went with that, and since the dynamite is cleaner than the cloudlifter, I prefer the dynamite, it is just a bonus it has the nice form factor. In the video I did say I like the cloudlifter better than the fethead, but I must not specified why haha. Another thing I said is that I would put the fethead up against the dynamite if people were interested... would you be interested in that??

I just got my Shure SM7B today and the XLR cable I have is a female to USB. I plugged it into my mic and then into my streaming PC which has all top of the line specs aside from a 30 series GPU. Anyway, when I boot up Adobe Audition and listen to the mic to set the specs, there is this static hiss. The only way I've been able to eliminate it is to lower my "output" to 0 or in Stream labs OBS, set the gain to negative. Is this something that can be solved by using a DM-1 Dynamite?
@AudioHotline4 жыл бұрын
This requires phantom power, so you would need some sort of audio interface that can provide it. XLR to USB cables are notoriously noisy, so that cable is probably the root of the problem. They do make external phantom power supplies, but even with the SE Dynamite, phantom power supply, and XLR to USB cable, I still feel like you would still run into some noise issues. I would definitely recommend getting an audio interface, like a Focusrite Scarlett or Audient ID4. When it comes to the SM7b, it is very gain hungry, so an interface with nice preamps is crucial. Once you have an interface, you could look into getting a mic activator like this as well, to help get the SM7b to a good level and keeping the noise floor down.
@collin884 жыл бұрын
@@AudioHotline Thank you! I just bought a focusrite scarlett too so I am very happy that you recommended it.

@@AudioHotline You'll be happy to know that the hissing sound is now gone...however, the issue I am facing now is that my voice/mic is only being heard on the left side of my headphones lol.
@AudioHotline4 жыл бұрын
That’s good! It sounds like you got the Scarlett solo based off of your issue. In that interface channel one is the XLR input and channel 2 is the 1/4 input. They act as a L/R stereo channel when set up certain ways. In your track settings you need to make sure your input is only selected as “input 1”. It sounds like you have “input 1 + 2” selected right now which would only make the left side of a stereo track record. Hopefully all that made sense!

This would not help with that. It would actually make it worse. I was thinking that particular model of interface had a “pad” option on the front. You should try engaging that. If that Pad doesn’t drop the dB low enough for you to stop clipping then you may need something like the Shure A15AS Switchable Attenuator. I have to do the same thing when I scream into the SM7b. I have to engage the pad on my Apollo twin even when my preamp is basically set at zero.

@AudioHotline4 жыл бұрын
They are honestly SO similar. The only difference is that the DM1 supplies +28dB of clean gain and the triton provides +27dB... So even THAT difference is super minimal. I have read that some people think the Fethead is a little more subtle and that the DM1 has a little more punch... I haven't heard these two back to back in person, with my own ears, so I can't attest to that. I can say that I think you'll be happy with either product!
