When my dayghter was 6 she kept saying she couldn't hesr out of one of her ears. I took her to the Drs and he found a wooden bead in her ear, covered in wax. No idea how she got it there, but after having to carefully pluck about 20 rolled up sticker stars out of her nostril at 4, and sweetcorn as a toddler, i thought maybe she had a fascination of putting random objects in her ears and nose. Thankfully she grew out of it 😂 4:40

What’s the difference between keratin and skin?
@haggielady10 ай бұрын
Different names, same thing. Keratin makes up your hair and nails and skin.
@lauren966710 ай бұрын
Keratin is dead skin. All the internal parts (organelles) are gone and replaced by a protein called keratin.
@Oligodendrocyte13910 ай бұрын
The above answers are almost right. Skin is made up of layers of cells of different types. The layers closest to the surface are dead or dying so what you have is the residue of cells. One the most durable components of cells are fibres called intermediate filaments, and these, in skin cells, are mainly made of keratin.

Its when a little flap of skin off the canal wall is stuck on one end, but the free end starts flapping about in the suction tube, causing a loud noise.
@Oligodendrocyte13910 ай бұрын
A woodwind instrument such as a clarinet makes a noise by blowing air over a thin strip (the reed). Sucking air over a strip of dead skin and keratin makes a noise too. 😊

Also, what exactly is clarineting? Apologies if this was explained in a previous video. Is it just when the suction creates a whistling sound?
@terriwetz607710 ай бұрын
Almost that. It's when trying to suction out a small piece of skin and the little bit starts flapping about in the tube creating a whistle. Have you ever held a blade of grass between your thumbs and blown thru to make a whistle when you were a kid? Same principle basically.

I was born completely deaf in one ear. I HAVE no inner ear bits and components (nothing developed past the “middle ear”, whatever’s that means to you). My question is, do audiologists have to worry about the sound and clarineting when suctioning my deaf ear even though I can’t hear it? Could it bust the eardrum or something?? Or could you just go for it with the suction tubes?
