Thank you for watching our ear wax removal video today. The ear wax extraction featured in todays video was carried out using endoscopic microsuction. This procedure uses a small camera called an endoscope to visualise inside the ear canal whilst a small suction tube is inserted to gently remove ear wax.
All the ear wax cleaning videos you see on our channel are carried out by our ear wax specialists Mr Rhys Barber and Mr Taylor Green.

Ear wax plays a vital role in ear health. It helps to prevent ear infection and helps with ear cleaning by picking up any dirt or debris that accumulates in the ear canal. Normally this ear wax would fall out of the ear taking any dirt or debris with it.
How to remove ear wax?
Many people use q-tips/cotton buds for ear wax removal at home this is one of the worst things you can put into the ear as this can lead to an increased ear wax buildup or in extreme cases impacted ear wax. The best way to remove ear wax is to let your ears clean themselves and not to put anything smaller than your elbow in your ears!
How do I know if I have an earwax blockage?
If you experience a change in your hearing, discomfort in the ear or jaw or a feeling of fullness in the ear canal you may have an ear wax blockage. Our advice is to speak to your Doctor or local Audiologist who can take a look in your ears and assess whether ear cleaning is needed.

I went into the ENT for a consult on my chronic nose stuffiness and a broken nose/deviated septum at 38 years old. I had used q-tips every single day my whole life (at least since like 12 years old) and he looked in my ears and said they were clean as a whistle and I am doing fine. “You shouldn’t use anything bigger than your elbow, but…you seem to be doing a-okay so keep up whatever you’re doing. Try to cut back on q-tips, though, because you really shouldn’t be using them.” Lol. Like, don’t do what you’re doing, but you are doing great nonetheless 🤷🏽‍♀️ As an aside, I’ve had cotton buds come out in my ear. How this person went any length of time like that is beyond me. I’ve gotten them out myself or had someone help me via tweezers.

So funny you talk about that at the end with middle ear infection. Because of you guys i didn’t freak out when I had one a couple of weeks ago. I had the flu pretty bad and got an ear/sinus infection and at one point my ears would not pop. I held my nose and blew trying to make them and heard the air bubble into my ear and omg. I’ve never heard anything like it before. But if I hadn’t been watching your channel for so long I would have panicked. Great video as always, thank you for sharing! 🙏🏽 I'm curious what the best alternative to Q-tips would be? I've been using them since childhood, and especially after a shower, the wax is loose and readily coats the cotton bud. There's not usually a lot of it, just enough to "color" the bud, occasionally there's a thicker chunk but it's rare. How else could I achieve the same results of clearing out my ears?
@sa.moss4410
@sa.moss4410 4 ай бұрын
Unless you overproduce ear wax or something you should only need to wipe the outside of your ear with a warm wet washcloth to clean off any ear wax that your ear has pushed out to the outer ear. Your ear cleans itself in cycles and pushes stuff out. If that doesnt work, however, you should put a few drops of olive oil in your ear and then lie down for a few minutes with the ear facing up so it goes into your ear. Then get a cotton ball or washcloth, put it against your ear, and lie down with the ear facing down so that the oil drains out. If that doesn't work, you're in see-a-doctor territory. Generally, unless there is something wrong, the itching and discomfort will go away after you stop using qtips for a while, and your ears will clean themselves naturally, and all you have to do is clean the outer ear.

A question since you talked about it, if I may. My ears haven't pressurized correctly in years, I always have to do it manually when the pain/discomfort becomes too much and then I hear bubbles, and I'm fairly sure the reason is because of what you just spoke of. I've been dismissed when bringing it up with my doctor previously, and using de-swelling nosesprays doesn't help. Is there any solution to this problem?

I tried quitting q tips once. After almost 3 months, a giant glob came out on its own and I felt like my hearing in that ear doubled. That being said, my ears constantly itch, even during 3 months where i didnt use anything, the itching drove me crazy until i couldn't take it anymore and dug in there. One of the best sensations ive ever experienced.

Qtip user here. The first time I ever tried using one, my aunt (nurse) got ticked cause I hadn't used anything to soften the gunk in my ears (warm water on qtip, stuff in my ears, etc). So since then the only time I use qtips is to get excess water outta my ears and my ear doc has given me praise for how healthy my ears are. In other words YA CANT STOP ME

My ear canal is about as wide as a cotton bud and they hurt scratching against the sides. I do use the silicone buds sometimes, but it's for itchiness near the entrance.

Do you use the Epley maneuver? That may help. My wife also gets vertigo spells for various reasons, so she tries to keep her ears clear. She has an at-home kit with some kind of oil that loosens up the wax- lets it sit for a few minutes and then flushes it out with a bulb. She uses lukewarm water, since too hot or too cold will also make her dizzy. Sometimes she'll do the process over a couple of days so she's not messing with her eardrum for too long

I was either very blessed or very cursed with very moist ear wax. I don’t get build up like… ever. But I swear to god I can FEEL the wax forming and moving in my ears. You’ll have to pry q-tips from my cold dead hands. I’m actually surprised I’ve never had a doc comment on how clear my ear canals are because I clean the shit out of them constantly.

I try not to use q-tips in my ears anymore, especially since rupturing an eardrum, but what exactly am I supposed to do when my allergies act up and nothing I've tried will ease the itch other than q-tips? I've tried ignoring the itch in hopes that it goes away, rubbing my ear from the outside, scratching with my fingernail, and a couple otc allergy treatments just to ease the reaction all around. There's usually little to no wax and it's just really really itchy.

Are there any videos of patients with dry ear wax? and i don't mean dryer moist ear wax i mean the recessive gene dry ear wax type? I am a Caucasian of Northern European descent in North America and I have dry ear wax and I've always wondered with dry ear wax can it build up the same as wet ear wax?

I had a botched tonsillectomy where man vein was not attached to tongue and was vomiting blood where 2nd hospital the surgeon called in seeing that I had filled a basin with blood, he quickly tried to cauterize which caused me to bleed more profusely. The surgeon put me in wheelchair rolling me into OR where nurse and anesthesiologist were waiting after called in. Took 3 hrs to stop bleeding, this ENT saved my life, first hospital sent me home with doctor in charge saying “You see a little blood and I get all dramatic” This was my Birthday and never would I go to a hospital unless absolutely needed. Since then cannot hear well in left ear with pain in glands off and on and hearing swishing of fluids at times, should I see a audiologist as it has never been the same since that day?

It’s our body’s natural way of clearing out debris from our ears and keeping it moisturized. If your ears don’t do that, you’d probably have to use a certain type of ear drops every day for the rest of your life

I must admit that I am a quip user too. But, my ear wax is and always has been the palest yellow color and very papery. Is this normal? I live in Idaho which is a very dry area. I can’t imagine any possibility of losing an ear Bud in my ears.
