Please note that the Bacch ORC involves far more measurements than just frequency response. It measures crosstalk and impulse response, and high/low order pinna impacts on your listening. It even includes established psychoacoustic factors that no other DSP has previously included. This video focused primarily on the frequency response since that's generally acknowledge by even the biggest "haters" of EQ/DSP as a valuable metric to improve....but it's just the tip of the iceberg with this product.

Does this system negate the need for room treatment?
@AudiophileJunkie
@AudiophileJunkie 2 күн бұрын
That's a complex question. It can do far more than room treatments, but it's still beneficial to have things like bass traps to minimize the need to use EQ where adding gain is necessary. The impulse response measurements will actually help you place room treatments in the right spot to deal with early reflections that can be eliminated with room treatments. Some rooms are so bad that you definitely need room treatments to at least be able to hear your gear. The Bacch combined with room treatments gives you the best results but you need far less than otherwise.

I want to start from a dac/streamer and then add more features...whats the starting price point and is the upgrade possible in stages...is the dac chip based or fpga?Also how does it work for a normal group listening!

It's best to send me an email and we can discuss over the phone. You can start a number of ways so it's best to talk about the various options and budgets. This is mainly calibrated for one person. People off axis will benefit a little bit, but it's mainly designed for the listeners' ears and head tracking.

It's probably best to first move the speakers to get as even in room frequency response as possible and then use the EQ/DSP to fine-tune the result. Just my two cents!
@AudiophileJunkie
@AudiophileJunkie Күн бұрын
That's absolutely correct and one of the values of the product is getting those uncorrected measurements first, so you know just how bad things are to start. Then you can use the impulse response in the software to locate where you might want to put room treatments and subsequently test if your change in positioning made a positive or negative impact. It's indispensable just as a tool for telling you what gets into your ear without guessing or pretending you know by just listening to a few songs. It will tell you within 60 seconds and then you can try something else until you're ready to let the software fix the rest.

I have a problem with having the Baach in a system all the time. Could a Baach system be marketed as a system optimizer service, with the client paying a fee?
@AudiophileJunkie
@AudiophileJunkie 2 күн бұрын
You wouldn't have a problem once you actually owned it, but you can press one button and bypass everything. I seriously doubt you will ever hit bypass to go back to warped frequency responses and crosstalk corrupting everything you hear, but that option is readily available with one button push. You need the hardware and software to run it, so there is no "service fee". You pay a price for the gear just like any other piece.

@@AudiophileJunkie Oh, I missed the point completely. This has to stay in the system. I understand that you are a big fan and appear to be a dealer of the Baach. I am still extremely skeptical of owning this as a permanent dsp "device", especially after seeing the cost of packages. Time will tell. Is there a free trial available, and if so, what setup is provided?

As I mentioned in the video, you get 15 days to demo it in your home. You can demo it at some shows or also come to Houston at my house. If you email me your location, I might have a user in your area as well.

So this can replace your preamp, DAC, and the streamer. I’ve not heard you say that!
@AudiophileJunkie
@AudiophileJunkie 2 күн бұрын
Yes...or you can keep your existing DAC, server and preamp and this will be just upstream of the DAC. Most eventually replace their DAC, server and preamp because you can easily A/B test once you get it and see that it's much better for all those pieces to be optimized by one designer in one chassis.

How much does it cost?

The website linked in the description will give you pricing for the Bacch4Mac and Bacch intro. The Intro version starts at $900 but doesn't include the room correction or hardware for taking measurements. The B4MAC is roughly $7k with all the hardware and software you need. You can go up the line to $25k, 30k and $50k for additional models. It's best to shoot me an email and I can walk through your existing gear and situation to determine what option would be best. audiophilejunkies@gmail.com

I don't understand the apparent secrecy about the price. You just talked about the product in glowing terms but never mentioned the most basic info. If this ORC product is so all inclusive, why do I need to reference the website to get a simple price. You're a dealer. How much does it cost? Is it because it's just another out of reach product for wealthy audiophiles?
@AudiophileJunkie
@AudiophileJunkie 2 күн бұрын
There is no secrecy...it's literally on the page linked in the description and every formal review. The issue with exact pricing is that there are a bunch of option that you have to review...Once you see them on the page, you'll see why there isn't a one price. The ADIO and DIO are approx $25k to $30k with normal options and the link you may have missed in the description is here www.theoretica.us/bacch4macAJ/

BTW...I can tell by your comment that you're upset with gear pricing and I understand that, but you'll see that you can get a taste for as little as $900 intro version and then move up as your budget allows. You also get 100% percent credit for everything you spend so that is unprecedented as well. Each product comes with a session with Edgar to set it up and that's free too which often goes 1-2hrs with consultation on your room and system included.

@@AudiophileJunkie I mean the graph you shown about 6 figures speakers was measured from the reviewer room right? I thought you said something like that, I'll re-watch this video after work, Apologies if I said something wrong.

@AudiophileJunkie 2 күн бұрын
Oh I'm sorry...yeah...you were referring to the graph of the frequency response. It's definitely not good, but not uncommon. He could fix much of it by better placement of the speakers (more nearfield listening) instead of treating the room, but the real answer is to fix it at the listening position with Bacch ORC :)

@AudiophileJunkie
@AudiophileJunkie Күн бұрын
I get what you are saying. I was initially concerned because I'm not a Mac guy, but you really don't know that you are using Mac or PC. This is a purpose built unit like anything in your system, so the only thing you run on the Mac is this software. You can run an Internet browser, but that's identical on PC and Mac. Nothing else should be run on the unit, so once you learn the interface for Bacch (which would be the same if on PC), you're done. The ADIO and DIO come with an iPad for your control/remote, but everyone knows how to use that since it's basically identical to a phone GUI.

@AudiophileJunkie
@AudiophileJunkie Күн бұрын
That's fine, but you really have to forget about it being a computer and more like any other product you have on the shelf. In fact, it helps you get rid of servers, preamps, active crossovers, DACs etc. You actually can just have the Bacch and active speakers if you want to consolidate to the bare minimum.

@@AudiophileJunkie That's why the Mac is a deal killer... have 4 PC computers in the house, not including the ultra high end one for my SIM rig.... If I can't use any of them, I will not use any product that demands another computer to function. Can't see any reason the manufacturer couldn't port their system to work on the PC platform, there's nothing magical about the Mac or exclusive to the Mac platform that A PC couldn't do. It would also open up the market to more people if they did port it.
