Looking forward to the reviews. I owned an Air Tight PC3 for a few years and then upgraded to a PC1 Supreme which I just love. Has been in service for seven years on my main rig(I have other turntables) but time for a retip. I’ve contemplated changing to another brand but think I’ll get the retip done instead. Look forward to your impressions on the other carts. Won’t be an easy task, by the time you get them aligned, burnt in and sort out correct loading and/or most suitable SUTs. But I’m sure it will be a great experience.

Hi there, Anthony. I’ve got a somewhat large collection of carts, so vids like this are always appreciated. Ive even purchased entire used turntables just for the cart that was mounted to it. I’m not sure if you’ve had any other carts retipped by groove tickler aka Joseph, but he does exquisite work. I met him probably close to a decade ago through the AudioKarma site. He’s retipped numerous cartridges of mine. Thank you, Anthony. Wonderful video.

This is the kind of content I have dreamed of about vinyl and high-end audio. I hate digital, even if I am listening to a lot of streaming these days. Maybe you can make this kind of content about CD players and streamers, too. This is an amazing podcast. Thank you!

@@AdiMaco thank you for the kind words. There are some very fine CD players around these days, but then you play vinyl…

Thanks Anthony for the show and tell, looking forward to some new year reading, with the need to dial these in, and set them up ( Wally tools etc) I appreciate this is very time consuming to review

Beautiful and desirable objects, but: it is difficult to digest how completely voluntary the pricing is anywhere above $5k or so. And how they are just different, not better and worse. Optimising partnering equipment and setup will typically bring much greater rewards than spending 5k more on the cart. Most importantly, very very few of us have the opportunity to compare carts at this level in the only truly meaningful way: in one's own system. Whereby this really becomes the playground of people who don't mind taking the risk and blowing that kind of money on a perishable item just for the pride of ownership. So I'm very happy with my "sensible luxury" Japanese MC, the AT Art9 :)

That’s why I get to do it for our readers and viewers.

High end carts are dreadful - at least for most of us. And the reason is a combination of two factors: price and sound quality. (1) Sound Quality. ADC for the last 10 years or so is really good. The corollary, ie DACs, have also come in leaps and bounds. Absolutely superlative DACs are everywhere. (2) Price. This is just ridiculous. $10K for about 1,000 hours (!). Of course the well heeled are comfortable with the advantages of vinyl and can overlook diminishing returns. To my way of thinking the advantages of vinyl are mainly in older recordings. First; they are just not available in digital, and Second; the transcriptions from Analogue to Digital are mainly dreadful, As for me: I used to have three vinyl rigs, but now down to one. Ikeda 9TT cart with DD table and high end Allnic phono stage. Still 95% of my listening is hires.
