Thanks for the video. I just started using this plug in and came across this video and it confirmed what I discovered.

Good video. I would have been interested to see how you would have approached a track that is somewhat less aggressive, such as acoustic guitar with a vocal for example. Many thanks.

So, if I'm hearing this right, what we're essentially is sending this whole mix through this compressor on a buss, then sending from compressor out all the other busses? I hope that's correct.

Why are some compressors called bus compressors and some not ? Isn’t it up to the user to decide if they’ll run a mix or a drum bus threw it ? A compressor is a compressor and the rest is up to the user right ?

I am speculating a little here, but I believe that the term bus compressor probably stemmed from large format consoles which typically had compressor(s) built into the centre section which could be assigned to the consoles busses/mix bus. Hence products like the "SSL Bus Compressor". In truth any stereo compressor could be considered a buss compressor.

Have you tried using a vcomp on mix buss
@audioproductiontips5 жыл бұрын
Yes, the vcomp is like a Neve 2254. It is a little "smoother" sounding. It can be great if you want something a little more relaxed but also "warmer".
