Alright….who thinks expensive power cables are snake oil?
@kennygsmooth837 ай бұрын
No. I've learned that there are three categories of any cable: 1.) Well constructed/Effective 2.) Poorly Constructed 3.) Worn out or defective My point is that it all becomes preference after the cable is properly constructed with a solid connection.

Snake oil and great marketing, and they do it very well. I understand if you're going from 110 to 240, you would need a bigger cable for the voltage. I get it about getting clean power and low noise, but your equipment should take care of that. It will look pretty behind your rack where nobody is going to see it. Save your money

@@kennygsmooth83Well constructed and effective power cables are mass produced and maybe 5 moneys a piece. So yes, anything above that is definitely snake oil.

@5.54 Snake Oil - depends were you live ? - Do you have a Nulclear/Plasma/Magnetic Reactor/Generator/Device next door ? Your mains input/wall socket to your electronics device - have standard wires - see inside - normal cable to your input device from the wires connected to the Transformer to the power supply input are normal wires.

THEY WORK.

I can't wait to hear your opinions on them. I've tried a few different power cables for my amps. I did notice some subtle differences. The question is can one justify the price for the difference you hear? That is subjective and for each person to decide on their own.

I view cables like I do test grades. 1. Did I pass using the low cost solution? Then it's fine. 2, Spend money fixing a problem that isn't perceptible? You MAY have wasted your money. 3. If it has a hum, or causes noticeable degradation? Pay what it takes to fix it. If it is reasonable to ensure future compatibility for known problems, or I am at the point where bragging on the purchase outweighs the cost, then its worth it. These things aren't deal breakers for me. Think they fall into option 1 and 2. I bought some RCA cables and when I went to a high sensitivity subwoofer, I HAD to move to XLR at a cost. It became worth it VERY fast. Problem, causation detected, solution. I have a few of these branded items and they are indeed very well made.

might be a ground loop

It’s weird because it’s intermittent. Right now I’m watching Disney+ and the buzz isnt present. It doesnt always do it.

What RCAs were you using that caused hiss and hum? I made some RCAs with some Mogami microphone cable and Canare connects and I have no hum or hiss. But then again you may be getting some dirty power from some where.
@hatoraidcowboy7 ай бұрын
Yea I may have some dirty power. I was even using SVS’ soundpath. Bought 13 cables fron them. Thankfully the XLR connections fixed it.
@percybedford62667 ай бұрын
@@hatoraidcowboy yeah are maybe a grounding issue. It's hard to detect it though. Hopefully your other issues get fixed.

Reviewing audio cables is a dangerous territory. Speaking highly of them, beyond aesthetic factors and build quality, risks being a boomerang. The risk of losing credibility is very high.
@hatoraidcowboy6 ай бұрын
That’s with reviewing any product. Kaleidescape and MadVR gets the same “treatment” because its ultra expensive. I havent even given my opinion yet lol
@shaolin956 ай бұрын
@hatoraidcowboy not really. A product that is expensive but actually works its is one thing. A product that is expensive based on pseudo science and pure lies to fool naive buyers, that is despicable and any flaming is well deserved
@hatoraidcowboy6 ай бұрын
I dont know if it actually works. That’s why I want to test for myself

I know all about the controversy. Been hearing about it for decades lol Again though, what’s so wrong with seeing for myself? I’ve never had used any of their products. If it doesnt improve anything then at least I can say I know from first hand experience.
