I love that I can share in the experience of you discovering these musicians who influenced me throughout my life. Chris Cornell was absolutely one of the very best, and his work in Audioslave with the guys from Rage Against the Machine was an impressive second act to his Soundgarden stuff. You should check out Shadow on the Sun by Audioslave to his his range in a really good song. Thanks for doing these!

I saw Chris Cornell at Hangout Music Festival ,with my son and a work friend. In Gulf Shores Alabama. In 2012. The line up was incredible. Chris Cornell was by himself. Nothing but him and an acoustic guitar. Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jack White, Alabama Shakes, Steve Winwood, Cage The Elephant,Young The Giant, Gary Clark Jr. Dave Matthews Band. Too many others to list! It was awesome. One lady was openly weeping listening to Chris Cornell. I was 52 and jamming out!

I love a lot of music, but Cornell is the only musician I ever truly loved. The day the news broke about his death I sat and watched other musicians play covers of his songs in tribute to him.. and I cried like a baby. I still go back and watch some now and then. You truly appreciate how loved he was when you're watching other artists break down in the middle of the covers..

I was lucky enough to see Chris live three times. Audioslave, Soundgarden and on his acoustic solo tour. Almost missed out on all three occasions, but persisted and got there. Those memories are some of my most prized possesions.

Chris’s voice was one of the best to come out of the grunge era, his work in Soundgarden is epic to say the least. His later work with Audioslave and his solo work were equally amazing. I’d say, personally, he could only really be challenged by Layne Staley’s. Layne’s work in Mad Season and of course the AIC Unplugged performance may be some of the best vocal recordings of the time. Chris’s range outmatched Layne’s and, for me, gives the edge to Chris. Try “Seasons” from his solo effort and do not sleep on Soundgarden. Anything off of Badmotorfinger for sure, “Room a Thousand Years Wide” is my personal favorite. Keep up the insightful reactions man!

I agree w/ you John. I love both Chris and Layne , however Layne always effected more with his emotions and depth of feeling. Laynes voice is so overlooked and underappreciated.. He was haunted by his demons like Chris. I was so heartbroken when Layne died. AIC got me through so much of my 20's . I am the same age as Layne ,Cantrell , Chris. I miss so many that have left this world. But thank god we still have their music and video.

For me Layne had more raw feeling and their music lent more towards Jane's addiction and motley Crue with a more clean metal sound and Layne making it sound not polished like Perry Farrell. Kurt did a Joe strummer thing by combing his favourite music with a knack for connecting to the listener on a level few can and the band was in the moment always. Pearl jam felt like the band that kind of played more straightforward rock but Vedder tipped them into the realm of we got something to say. Their live show now is only rivalled by foo fighters and faith no more for consistency and delivery. Soundgarden were next level as musical talent and songwritinf goes. Grohl and Kris were blown away by black hole Sun.....superunknown is a perfect album

Hell yes is right!! Love these guys together. Chris was my son Joshua's Favorite singer. He passed in 2019. I hope he has seen that great band up there. Miss you Josh. Chris was so talented. Unfortuately he fought depression for years . This makes me so sad to think of him. But my heart hurts for my son always. 💔
