Surprised you didn't mention my 2 favourites! Lo-fi and Sansamp. Lo-fi is an unreal distortion/saturation plug and using the sample rate conversion to shave off digital sounding top end has been an industry secret for years. Sansamp is a staple on bass guitar and any electric guitar that was poorly miced can usually be saved just by running it through sansamp. Its also great at making super digital synths blend with real world instruments.

Hey Evan, thanks for your input. Those are some great plugins you mentioned. I'll be honest, I had to think back a bit for this tutorial because I hardly ever use stock plugins anymore. Lol

Yo, I have learned a ton from your videos. Something I was going to share with you is my use of the BPM.... Let's say it is 125bpm, my slapback delay 125ms, short DDL 250MS, Med DDL 500MS. Then for reverbs i would for pre-delay use 62.5 or 125ms, for a huge snare 250ms. Decay times 1.25 -2.5. I basically use it as a good place to start, and adjust to taste. I also use the BPM on any time based effect, and like I said I adjust to fill the space, emotions of the music. Equilization can also be affected by tempo because of the time it takes for frequencies to be humanly audible. I know people will call BS on some of my audio theories, but I have had a decent amount of success making bands sound good, but them being happy is my thing. No one should leave my stage disappointed, I will work till the rooster crows if that's what it takes. Thank you, have a great day, David

Those techniques definitely make sense David. I got a couple other videos where I dive into my settings in more detail. I like like to work around the tempo also. The only effect I sometimes go off tempo with is the slap delay and put it in the 160s to create the abbey road sound.

Nice video. You explain it well and your videos are well done . I am an old school engineer (before doing photography for a living) that ran/owned a full time audio home studio with a large fully modular console (48 input D&R Orion inline console) and a large format analog tape machine running at 30IPS (or 15IPS) and vintage outboard gear. (Eventide H3000, Lexicon PCM 42, Rev7, TC Electronics, DBX, etc. I eventually (about 15 years ago) bought myself an Alesis HD24XR Stand alone hard disc recorder (24 tracks) with the higher spec AD/DA converters and now I am considering buying a DAW. I still like using a console and my outboard gear, so I am trying to find a DAW that would be user friendly to make a hybrid studio (mainly for myself). I may rent the studio again on a limited basis, but my main concern is to take advantage of what a DAW can offer as well as have the console and outboard gear at my disposal also. I was going to start with a perpetual license Pro Tools standard, but there is so much stuff available it gets confusing really fast. Any suggestions as you seem very knowledgeable with the DAWs. Thanks. Phil

If you want to incorporate a DAW into a analog console set up I definitely recommend Pro Tools. It will also give you everything you possibly can need as a stand alone as that's how I use it. I use it with Slate Ravens which are touch screen interfaces so I can still use my fingers. Back in the day, when I was in college, we used Pro Tools with an SSL hybrid console. Once you get all the actual patch bay routing in place it works great with Pro Tools.

@@AudioSorcerer OK Thanks for that info. Appreciated. Also, nothing like those SSL consoles, Neve, API, etc, Those consoles are amazing. Phil

@@AudioSorcerer stock plugins showing up and some third party but others keep getting Error AAE 7504 cannot intialized
@AudioSorcerer3 жыл бұрын
I can't find a whole lot online about that specific error. It seems to be related to Mac. I would say make sure you're running the most recent version of iOS. I'm not sure why you would be experiencing it on your PC also. I would reach out to Avid as you get support when you buy Pro Tools from them.
