I can't handle the sex appeal Bernhoft embodies. I feel like a teenager at a Beatles concert. I've seen him live twice and I pull my hair out and cry like a baby.

Commenting again in 2022 because we ALL need to so we can convince the algo to make him world famous

...met him years back...he was surprised I knew who he was as he was an "opener" for Allen stone...I love Allen now but had no idea who Allen stone was...I drove 2 hours to him...such a nice guy. He's beautiful in every sense of the word.

This dude from Norway is making more soulful music than most artists from the states! I live in Louisiana and I feel like most artists these days gravitate towards EDM or rap....we need more soul in music! Bernhoft and Allen Stone are killing it! Jamie Lidell is super talented as well. I can name a bunch of "white" modern soul singers, but having trouble naming black singers with this much soul and feeling. I mean listen to the black keys, they're from Akron, Ohio!!!

+YoutanPoluo there's plenty of black soul artists in the States. They just aren't mainstream. The industry doesn't think they are important. And, thus, you don't see them.

I personally don't care what the color of the artists skin is. Soul can exist in every human. However, I understand that the black community cultivated this music. These people are an integral part of American music history and their influence should never be forgotten. One of my favorite emerging black soul artists is Jonny P from Nashville. When I saw him live, his singing was so on-point that every note felt like it went straight into me. Magnus Tingsek produced and wrote some content for Jarle Bernhoft and Allen Stone. You HAVE to check his new album "Amygdala". One of the best soul/R&B albums EVER.

YoutanPoluo I agree with Randy. You must remember that the roots of soul/RnB music comes from the African American community. And I'm sorry, but how can you say you don't find this level of soul in black artists; further yet, why would you say this? I'm afraid your conclusion - which, I might add, is perplexingly racially charged - is not found in evidence at all.

Antwun Stanley... he sings with Vulfpeck. Well worth checking out. Tracks such as Birds of a feather, 1612 and wait for the moment. Smooth as silk and soul as deep as it can go... but still... long live the best. Long live Jarle Bernhoft!!

Pretty solid blues community in Norway. Check out Vidar Busk, Amund Maarud and Knut Reiersrud. These cats play circles around all american born blues artists since Robert Cray. (Cept Derk Trucks, of course. But, fuck. He's Derek Trucks. Cut everyone else a break.)
