So pay a third party to do what? Create an echo chamber for myself? To support my own latent confirmation bias? Am I supposed to pay Ground for the convenience of them doing the critical thinking and reading comprehension for me? Why would I pay for a subscription to an entirely useless service, especially when they'll be selling my data to other third parties? Ever consider reaching out to companies worthy of endorsing in exchange for a sponsorship instead of just waiting for and accepting a sponsorship from such questionable companies who will sponsor anyone and everyone just to promote their snake oil, scam/poor quality product, or services which profit off their customers by selling their data?

I had a cop roll up on my buddy and I (I was 60 and he was 45 at the time). The lying cop said that he got a call that said I was doing donuts in the pickup truck parked nearby. Any problems with that? Of course. 1. The truck belonged to neither of us. 2. The hood was cold and the truck had not been moved. 3. The back of the truck had work equipment that would have been thrown around. 4. There were no tire marks or smell of rubber in the air. When I wouldn't give him identification he said "Do you want to go to jail?". I said, "Yeah, I want to go to jail" and walked off on him. Guess what happened? Nothing, that's what. I went inside. The clown was just looking for something to do and didn't count on this old man telling him that he was a g d liar. That got me started filming everything. Now, I never leave the house without the phone being fully charged. Plus, I will film everything, get their name and badge number, ask for a supervisor, and then go file a complaint afterwards. From here on out I say FTP.

Being the subject of a 911 call ACTUALLY DOES abrogate your rights to some extent. Somebody with suicidal ideation is incompetent to dictate whether or not he will engage with emergency personnel. This idiot kept trying to walk away from the police when it was OBVIOUS they weren't finished speaking with him. When you communicate suicidal ideation to your wife, she calls the police, and you're found to be in possession of somebody else's prescription medication, BOO HOO that you don't feew wike talking to the big meanie doo doo head policeman. The guy had his father-in-law's high-blood-pressure medication. Do you know what happens when somebody with NORMAL blood pressure ingests Rx medication which lowers your BP? Their brain can become fatally oxygen starved.
@wallebo
@wallebo 6 күн бұрын
@@troyevitt2437 My mom and dad both killed themselves. With that in mind, I take it seriously. In this case, however, what the wife said was at best not able to be verified by the cops that were all too ready to arrest the man because they got their feelings hurt. As I recall, when they wanted to kill themselves, neither went to work that day.
@troyevitt2437
@troyevitt2437 6 күн бұрын
@@wallebo The wife said he was feeling suicidal. He was found in possession of a medication prescribed to his father-in-law for high blood pressure. If his father-in-law's medication had been Oxy or Vicodin, enough of it could still be fatal, but it could have been that he just wanted to get high. The fact that it was medication to lower the blood pressure, however, ruled out wanting to get high. A person with normal blood pressure would only take such a medication for one reason, to restrict the flow of oxygen to the brain resulting in fatal hypoxia. And Constitution or not, he was rude to walk away from ANYBODY who was obviously still speaking with him. No Constitutional Right trumps courtesy.

NEVER call the police, even if you're worried about a loved one. The police are neither qualified to help them, nor are they obligated to help them. Almost anybody else you call can help your loved one in EXACTLY the same way any cop can. That doesn't mean that cops cannot help them, but a cop is no more capable or qualified of helping them than a total stranger working in a burger joint. What the police CAN do is arrest, hurt or even kill your loved one. And the guy from the burger joint cannot do that. THIS situation is exactly why the police should be defunded. Funds for this should be taken from the police and given to services that are qualified to deal with it.

WRONG. Most police departments have psychiatric crisis training. Where THESE cops went wrong was to take him to jail instead of to a hospital with a Psych unit. The individual had communicated suicidal ideation to his wife and was found to be in possession of his father-in-law's blood pressure medication. If somebody with normal BP takes a medication for high blood pressure, it will dangerously lower their BP to the degree that their brain is FATALLY starved of oxygen. It's irrelevant whether he wished to engage with the police or not.

The guy had too short an attention span to comprehend that the police weren't finished with him. He had expressed suicidal thoughts to his wife and had his father-in-law's high-blood-pressure medication. Care to guess what happens when somebody with normal BP takes medication that lowers your BP? The brain dies of oxygen starvation. The police weren't wrong for compelling his undivided attention; a suicidal person isn't competent to dictate whether they will engage with emergency personnel. The police were, however, wrong for taking him to jail instead of a hospital with a psychiatric unit.

That’s not true. My mom called one of these on me when I was in college and not answering my phone. The encounter took two minutes, was totally safe, and the police were cordial. That’s what happens in 90% of cases. What you watch is the minority of interactions. This is the reason it’s recorded and we watched it.

WHY is the cop going into his work and "investigating" by telling them all his personal business? They were in the wrong anyway, but if she had just asked them investigative questions that would at least be appropriate to their initial wrongdoing. Wtf.. She was just trying to CYA already by telling them what she thought happened. This is why police need officers/resources that go beyond treating citizens this way.

@gavinwigg8057 HIPPA applies to any PHI (protected health information). When I was a volunteer firefighter, we were warned against the information shared when telling stories. Telling a family member about a call you went to and being vague is ok. Saying it was John Doe who lives on Main street was having a schizophrenic break is against HIPPA. This applies to firefighters and EMS, I'm not sure if it applies to police, but it should.

That is also why the cops are so emboldened in pulling this type of behavior. They are in position of power and with no consequences, so ... they will act like it.
