Love my OM5. Never had a single issue with it. Money well spent.

I've sang through an OM5 for over 1,000 shows. The paint is all rubbed off where the mic clips grabs it. It sounds as good today as the day I bought it with no problems.

I just had an OM5 get knocked over on a stand from an outdoor stage, and it took about a 9 foot drop on to concrete. No damage other than a scratch on the windscreen.

I own 7 Audix OM5 that i have had for 10 years and they are Perfect condition, and they get used. You can't put down a Mic of any brand because your people drop them. The are not a Hammer!!

If a mic can't handle being dropped on a stage. It doesn't belong on my stage.

Shure mics are excessively tested. While I was at a AES meeting at Shure in illinois, one of the shure guys mentioned the KSM8 actually beat the sm58 in some of the reliability testing. I do think the audix OM5 sounds better new, but it means nothing if the audix mics are broken or out of spec after a few years. My experience with audix mics regularly has been some kind of failure. if Audix put the same effort into testing as Shure does, then maybe i'd give them a 2nd chance......

@@TheAngrySoundTech ridiculous. Would you say the same thing if it was a amp head or a piece of outboard equipment? Pretty simple. Take care of your gear.
@TheAngrySoundTech2 жыл бұрын
@@willymccabe6602 You obviously don't own a production company. I have musicians chewing tobacco spitting all over my mics while singing. Singers set the mic down and it rolls off an amp. The band packs up and loads out and knocks a mic stand over... I've seen it all. Mics need to be reliable. The OM5 sounds great but it will die. Remember it wasn't just one I had die. Every single one I owned died. Which is weird because the OM2's have not. They are still alive and so heavily used most of the black paint is off of them. I don't know why one is reliable and the other is not but that's just the way it is. Or at least was. Perhaps they have fixed the issue.

Good info, thanks, I haven't had problems with my OM5 mics. But, they haven't been dropped. I get what you're saying about buying spares, but everyone should have a spare of the important things, whether it's cables, strings, guitars or an extra mic if you're the singer.

I think you'll like the sound of a OM5. It cuts through a mix nicely. Just don't drop it.

Thanks for the Video! Where do you see the OM7 in terms of sturdiness compared to the OM2 & OM5? Any opinion on that?
@TheAngrySoundTech5 жыл бұрын
I've only owned OM2's and OM5's. My OM2's are still working just fine. I'm not sure about the OM7.
@acevanspace80835 жыл бұрын
@@TheAngrySoundTech Ah, okay. I own an OM7. I've been having it for about a year by now and it's been through some pretty rough shows. It seems pretty reliable to me, but I was curious, if maybe I've just been lucky. Thanks though!

If I had to guess they probably had a bad batch of OM5's slip through quality control. Just a guess since I haven't had any problems with my OM2's. They look like they are all built the same way so you would think they would all have the same issue if it wasn't just a bad batch.
I’m a big Audix mic fan! So far they haven’t failed me! Don’t get me wrong there’s a lot of awesome mics out there in the market and I feel you should just try them all and go with the one that fits to your voice, at the moment I’ve been using a OM5 for 3 years and I have to say, Idk how to explain it and I’m not sure if it will work for everyone but when I sing through a Audix I feel like I’m hearing just my voice, no color to it, no tone changes, just my voice and like I said just MY Opinion but I feel Audix fit my voice to my liking, there has been occasions that Ill hear someone using a beta and it sounds fucking awesome but then I use it and it’s just not my cup of tea but yeah, I have a OM2, OM5 and OM7 and honestly, I Favor the OM5

I have the same problem with my om5, is there a way to fix it 'cause the wires are still connected but the head is loose, can i use some kind of clue? My i5 is still okay.
@TheAngrySoundTech6 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure how you go about repairing the OM5 if it has a loose mic capsule. I've had repair techs comment on some of my other videos perhaps we can get one to comment on this one.

Best live dynamic mic by far is Shure KSM8, although admittedly it’s a lot more money, but truly worth every penny

The OM5 is known for reliability issues. I‘ve heard from others telling me their OM5 all of a sudden died

You didn’t say a word about the om2, How is that preparing their lesson 58 durability and in sound?
@TheAngrySoundTech5 жыл бұрын
I'll have to get to more of the microphone reviews soon. Including talking about the OM2 in more detail.

The Angry Sound Tech I had a om5 as my live show mic, but one time it got dropped (something that happen every day with the sm58) and the om5 stopped working. But it was really part of my sound and it allowed me to perform in places you usually have feedbacks.
@fridmanator5 жыл бұрын
The Angry Sound Tech I thought if the om2 is just as good against feedbacks I might get couple of those.
@TheAngrySoundTech5 жыл бұрын
The OM2 is a good mic as well. I just used two of mine at a show this past Saturday. It isn't as good as the OM5 though. I'd say the OM2 is better against feedback than an SM58 or an e835. But it's not quite as good as the OM5 and also dosen't sound quite as good as the OM5. It still sounds good. Just not as good.
