one of the bestmovie musicals done on a composers life when the studios were turning these out like an assembly line. The movie contains some of the best work done by these stars. Eugene Loring's ground breaking dance for Cyd Charisse and Jim Mitchell is another example. I sat through this film 3 times just to see that brilliant choreography. No internet in those days kids!!!!!!

I so agree . Merle Oberon is heartbreaking , not allowing her tears to fall, holding them as we all do when we need to cry but don't want to. She was a phenomenal actress. The roles seemed expertly cast. I always enjoy watching this movie.

I was looking too for the scene in that same movie where Helen sings 'Softly As In A Morning Sunrise' but didn't find it anywhere on Utube. Another commendable performance she did. Would you consider posting this scene if anyway possible?

@1948DESMOND: Well, put something up your arse and see if you cry! What a crude comment to make about Merle Oberon and Doris Day. Your comment isn’t exactly a promotion for the use, and location, of onions. The two woman were actresses and had enough sorrow in their personal lives that didn’t require onions when emoting.

Stupid remark, complete with gratuitous exclamation marks, but then the entire sensation seeking statement is gratuitous anyway.. Very visibly Merle Oberon was indeed a beautiful beautiful woman. "Queenie" is of course not a biography, but a work of fiction by Michael Korda said to be loosely based on his aunt Merle Oberon, and only a fool with a breathless love of Hollywood gossip would in any way assume that it accurately reflect Oberon`s life.
