Since hearing the vinyl recording of this song for the first time around 1959 it has never lost its charm! ❤😊

Keep in mind this film was released in 1945 which means it was made in 1944 which means WW2 was still raging. Before we dropped the bomb. Rock and roll did not exist yet and this was before the development of being "cool" which started in the late 1950s. For teenage Veda to sing and play a devil-may-care party song instead of something patriotically American came off as incredibly decadent and insensitive. It's lost now but this was a clue to the audience that she was a bad kid. Making her baby sister wear makeup and dress in an outfit so flirty was kind of heathen.

Lew Ayres first silent movie and he ends up kissing Garbo! He looks barely past adolescence and the studio wondered if he could handle it so they had another actor to fill in in case. Lew Ayres did just fine!

Outstanding. They captured the feel of it perfectly. Wonderful chemistry for the camera and spot on styling.

Judy and Jack Carter would have been as terrific a weekly team as Carol Burnett and Harvey Korman would become later. Better even!

Each performer lifted everyones spirits; together they were like the finest champagne. No wonder they made 4 film together.

It's hard to keep the fabulous Ann Miller down, but this frenetic musical number tries. Deep In My Heart is a dreadful film, but she seems to have wandered in from another movie. She was terrific, but she doesn't need this awful number around her.
@jackjules75522 жыл бұрын
Film work was slowing down for Ann at MGM. This number was the only thing Ann had in release at MGM in the year 1954. She did one final musical film the following year.
