What a beautiful spider! I wasn't even aware that she was still in the enclosure because of how calm she was. And the tiny little slings are just about the size of my Lassie (-adora Parahybana). So many and so cute at that stage.

I remember last time you let them hatch in the enclosure camera lady said never again haha bet she was giving you the side eye by the end… It’s still crazy how some slings after a month have molted out and others are still hanging on to their abdomens. Your spiders really are so good. Another great video see y’all on the next one…

I know you get this a lot, but I'm scared stiff of spiders! Watching your videos has made me appreciate them and I'm starting to think they are...beautiful!? I couldn't even look at a tarantula a few months ago so thanks for making such interesting videos about them. Don't think I'll ever be ok with UK house spiders though 😬
@Solitude11-112 жыл бұрын
You may be surprised! I was extremely phobic, especially with house spiders…now I have free range ‘pets’ living with me 😄 I have one above the shower cubicle that was a tiny sling and now grown quite a bit, it comes out and drinks condensation drops when I shower. I leave the bathroom window open as much as possible to allow flies etc in for it. I had a very big female that I used to feed a few years ago, she got very tame. I eventually put her outside after she decided she wanted to sleep in my bed with me, I didn’t want to accidentally squash her if she did it again when I didn’t see her! Keep watching, Daves videos are the best as he is so calm and makes it interesting. It took me a while with the ones I originally watched. It’s great when you realise you no longer have that fear 😊
@obiwann7852 жыл бұрын
@@Solitude11-11 Well I never thought I'd find any spider beautiful so I guess it may be possible one day! It's been an interesting process - watching the videos, feeling tense and then catching myself feeling empathy for them or appreciating their webs. Just goes to show that some education about the things we fear can really help. Enjoy your spider guests ❤️

Congrats on the rare babies!!! I swear your spiders just look happy. This one even has a smiley face on her abdomen. Thank you to Camera Lady for the tough job of baby nabbing all those kiddies. I found it so neat seeing the contrast between the blackish, shiny, smooth baby sitting next to the lighter, brownish, hairy, and slightly bigger sibling. Or would they be sibslings? 🤣🤣🤣 Oh, and I love your nails, Camera Lady!!! Thanks for another great video! 🕷❤

Something that's always been of interest to me is how, despite being from different genuses (geni? Genii? Fancy latin word?), the baboon spider carapace patterns are so very similar in appearance to each other. This one bucks the trend of being highly defensive, but at a glance you can still absolutely tell this is a baboon tarantula. An interesting case of convergent evolution.

I'm glad you mentioned taping up the holes, when I was new to the hobby I bought a sling Brachypelma Vagans in a tiny pot that wasn't taped, I didn't realise until she grew enough to transfer her to a new home that she'd lost her leg by poking it through one of the airholes. It grew back but it was never quite right and took ages to regrow. From then on I made sure I taped the holes and made tiny new ones in the tape so no-one else had any accidents. Apart from the leg, Peggy Sue was a happy and healthy little lady, who lived to a good age and it never seemed to bother her, but I felt awful that it happened.
