You are essentially paying a ridiculous price for what amounts to rice , pasta, and flavorings. Do you know how cheap rice, pasta, and bouillon is at the grocery store? Oh and are you going to be satisfied with just 1/3 or 1/2 cup of food? Complete rip-off!

I'm a pepper and I mylar bag a lot of dry food and use oxygen absorbers which that's what it appears they've done with your bucket. Oxygen absorbers sometimes appear to have a vacuum seal effect and sometimes they don't. They only remove the oxygen which is the only thing that will spoil food and air contains 21% oxygen and 79% nitrogen. Sometimes in the same batch that I do some look like they are vacuum-sealed and others won't but I know that I've done them all the exact same way. You should be good with your macaroni noodles as it is only the oxygen that is the enemy when it comes to food storage of dry food. I hope this helps you

This is survival food not gourmet meals. They will have to leave certain things out to achieve the desired shelf life. People raise their expectations past the actual intended purpose. This should fill a specific purpose in your preps. If you are capable of creating the same meals with the same shelf life for the same price then you are doing great but if you want something that does not require the work or expertise then this will get the job done. I am willing to put any amount of money on this, if you actually need to use this stuff because of a major event, It will taste like food from a 5 star restaurant. Also you can use this stuff to barter with other people.
@ActionMattGreen
@ActionMattGreen 10 ай бұрын
I can agree with most of this statement. I was mainly upset due to several bags being busted when I opened the bucket. That leaves the shelf life to be questioned. I try and keep a ton of different foods available in case something happens.

most of what is in those containers will never be eaten. I will never eat the whey milk or orange drink which eliminates 56 servings. Probably no eat the pancake mix as when I eat those. I will not have syrup or butter so there goes another 30 servings. Plus the meals are in a 4-serving package so I will need to divide each package into 4 equal bags and vac-seal them all when I open them. All in all, no matter what the company, about half the contents will never be consumed. IF the let us pick-and-choose, it would be better. IF they make solo servings, it would be better.

You are aware, that dried beans, rice and vegetables will keep as long as they never get wet? I can get pretty big bags of dried vegetables (under $15 at the local heath food store) and a small fruit cup makes a crockpot full. Add some meat(jerky, dried chipped beef, etc). Dried beans make a great soup, with a can of diced ham added. Rice can be mixed with a can of chicken and chicken bullion cubes or beef and a beef bullion cube. Of course, it will take longer to cook, but I can guarantee it will be cheaper.

@@ActionMattGreen my parents were depression and WW2 kids. I grew up on cornbread and Pinto beans. Both parents grew up on farms in the mountains. Seriously lean times. It stayed with them. Maternal grandmother and Aunts and Mom were Canners. I learned from them. Lol in 70's I almost got hurt/killed by pressure cooker exploding. Mom was canning chilli for winter. My usual was to come home from school kick my shoes of raid the fridge. This day my Mom canning decided while waiting for cooker to finish went outside to hang up laundry. I came in kicked shoes off had to go to bathroom for upset stomach. Thank God neither of us or my little sister was in the kitchen or line of fire. Heard this high pitch whining whistle then boom. My Mom started screaming my name by that time I was coming down the hallway. Got to kitchen doorway. There was glass imbedded in the wall, the ceiling and the pressure pot lid only about 3 inches of bottom lid could be seen from how it was stuck so deep in ceiling. Beans and sauce and meat went from utility room, the kitchen, the hallway and so far in the living room it stained the furniture. If I hadn't been sick to my stomach I would have been seriously hurt. She came flying through that back door grabbed me patted me down see if I was hurt. Couldn't believe how I wasn't in the kitchen when it happened. Running joke in the family is I am a death magnet. Serious illness or car accidents, robberies, I was/am an adrenaline junky and I have always been accident prone to top it off. Serious life or death crazy. Happily I am always one step before it or around it. Blessed that way. LMFAO my Dad swore to his dying day Mom deliberately blew the canner up to get the kitchen and living room and new washer n dryer. Both rooms had serious damage. Glass was in splinters in the sofa and chairs. Not to mention the hardwood floors and carpet.

I’ve never been a fan of those survival type foods, they have there place, mostly bug out type situations. If your at home you can buy every ingredients you need to make wonderful meals that will last many years. You have almost anything you want in powders, you have pastas, canned beef, canned chicken, etc. One of my favorites is a tortilla mix, that only needs water to create a dough, you only need a hot rock to make a really good comfort food! Your trusting your life to food that tastes bad, packaged poorly, and manufactured by who knows who!

Disappointing with damaged packaging, as I have the same bucket in our stash. Probably the bags being sealed with oxy absorbers will be sufficient to keep the stuff good as the lack of oxy is near as good as a hard vacuum sealed bag. As far as the 'use by date' goes, different stuff is probably packaged in different places or maybe they run chicken flavored soup this month and noodles the next? As long as it's the same year is close enough for me. With Amazon's return policy, maybe you should ask what they'll do for damaged packaging of the product? Might send you a whole new bucket.

Do not buy the fruit variety or the vegetable variety. They are just 6 to 8 small pouches of individual dehydrated items. #1 The companies substitute so you are not going to get the items listed on the advertising. #2 They charge extra for the bucket alone and it is not food grade. #3 The pouches in the bucket can be bought at Aldi or Dollar Tree for a lot less than they charge for it. The pro is you can choose your favorites. #4 By making your own bucket, you can inspect and buy your pouches as there is usually a few pouches in the bucket where there is damaged or leaking pouches. You can spend less than $30 and put together your own for a lot less than the the $100 plus variety buckets.

@@ActionMattGreen It took me a while to learn. I was gifted the 30 day bucket. It had 5 leaking pouches with food product everywhere. I am single and live alone. Each pouch is supposed to be about 8 servings with zero instructions on making less and resealing it. I tried the Spanish Rice and I ended up having to eat it for a week. In an emergency without electricity, I am not going to have the power to run the stove, refrigerator or microwave that the emergency bucket requires. Mother Earth has freeze dried and dehydrated fruits and vegetables that cost about $15 in plastic tubs for about the same amount of product that I get in many of the Augason Farms #10 cans. For grains and baking, the #10 cans regularly go on a sale through Amazon about once a month. The pancake mix comes out to $7 and some change which is ongoing right now. There are also other varieties of Augason Farms #10 cans on sale as well. If I can get the single ingredient buckets for less than $50, I buy them. The oats are going for $33 and some change right now. For dairy, Hoosier Hill Farm is similar to Mother Earth with powders in plastic containers. They have buttermilk, cheese, sour cream and other dairy products in powder form. You could always take the Mother Earth and Hoosier Hill Farm items and repackage them into mylar for more long term storage. I repackage mine in glass jars. In these trying times, we all need multiple levels of food storage. In USA, the church of LDS has bishop storehouse locations. There is one in my state capitol or I can have it shipped to me. They have 6 packs of the #10 cans like macaroni and flour and sugar for sale at a price lower than Augason Farms. Save up and buy what you can each week. It could be a $15 plastic container of powdered milk. Or you could purchase a few cans of meat from your Dollar store. Also keep in mind what your family will eat so you only store what you eat. Think about things. How are you going to prepare food without electricity? Where are you going to get water? How are you going to keep your family warm during the winter months? Where can you go if you have to leave your home?

I have seen these on Amazon as well as the single person two week buckets that are the same size. Obviously this stuff isnt award winning five star cuisine but I just bought my first two of these. Why? Loads of people from different backgrounds, different socio-economic situations, different political leanings, etc all seem to agree on one thing. Everyone seems to believe we're all headed towards some pretty rough patches in the country. Of course there will always be the culture war garbage where one side or the other blames the other guys for all of the country's ills but the consensus is rough times are coming. If the not too distant future plays out the way everyone seems to think it's going to, having a bunch of these sitting in the back of a hall closet or pantry might not be a bad thing! Considering the alternatives whilst functioning under duress in a crisis, these things may be a blessing - and Im not even religious! At that time we may not have the option of being picky. I read the contents of the 1 person 2 week buckets and it seems a worthwhile purchase, but hey thats just me.

I would have been much happier if the contents of the bucket were packaged better. I understand the idea of the bucket, but the packaging should be just as important.
