Augmentation Evoker Mythic Plus Guide

Augmentation is good even after the nerfs. But not everyone plays it very well, so lets beat the allegations and fix that! This guide (season 3 AND 4) will cover how to play Aug with some simple optimizations and some more complicated for those who really know the DPS!

The best and most fluid advice I ever heard to improve on Augmentation from pull to pull is to not just mindlessly extend Ebon Might and exhaust your resources. Check out how far along the pack is and start banking essence bursts to prepare your next Ebon Might extensions. Glad you mention this because it wasn’t entirely clear to me when Aug released.

Bowser question about healers in s4 . What’s your take on Prevoker vs Resto Shaman. In Df I mained all 3 seasons Prevoker but feel sort of burned out on its play style. I was RS in Shadowlands and Wrath Classic and loving it so thinking about going back to it for retail but just don’t want to struggle in M+ keys. I know you have a video on all healers but I’d like your take on those two specifically. I pug 💯 in all my pve so I definitely have to take the best of those two into s4. Thanks for all you do 🙏

Thank you for this information, Bowser. Do you know why Augmentation is nowadays always at the bottom of the statistical score and tier raiding lists? For example, it's currently at the bottom of the raid tier list on both WarcraftLogs and WoWMeta. Only tier lists affected by opinion rate it higher, like u.gg, Archon, Icy Veins, etc. I know Augmentation does the least individual DPS of all "DPS" classes, but even Details now corrects this impression with the pale part of an Augmenter's damage, and those statistical tier lists don't make it sound like they're based purely on raw DPS throughput with the word "Score" rather than "DPS."

My guess is the hooks are still not accurate, and also its not played a ton at higher levels and even the higher end of say heroic parsing. But someone can fact check me and see if im right. But it requires a decent amount of work thats harder than most specs. Learning your teammates cooldowns, windowing them, moving into position for shifting sands, etc. I got 80-90 pases on heroic barely doing it right for fun the other day. I think if we don't have good hooks, and its hard, its so tough to know your actual impact. So it doesn't get as much play. I think its awesome, but we have theoretical numbers that show its def doing good work! But when logs and details can't show the picture super well? You're just believing the parse and details and hoping your impact was good. And not everyone will find that to feel good when they can go dev and have a reliable number. I didn't fact check this post, so I could be off or wrong on current aug raiding research. But I dont think much has changed since I last looked!

I've been debating on picking Aug back up next season because I was having lots of fun with it at one point. do you think there's any leeway to run the Time Skip/Tomorrow Today talent? I know having overall 10% CDR is huge and lets things sync up better overall, but having that HUGE window for bosses/big pulls was a really fun feeling and I definitely liked it better

There is literally almost no situation it’s better. It’s more ebon might up time and that alone is enough damage time skip isn’t worth. But I think it’s there for raid? Because two reasons. Smolderon has a weird rotation that time skip lets you line up with multiple dps cooldowns using time skip. It isn’t run anywhere else but let’s say you have a few banger dps at 2 minutes and most at 3 minutes. Time skip will let you window both at some point so if there is big damage to be had, you can provide. But in mythic it’s only smolderon. And I think if we could have a nerfed time skip with our interwoven threads I’d be happy because it’s so sick and I wanna use it T.T

Would u recommend playing Augmentation as a new player (no m+ score) that will normally pug?? Im afraid i wont get invited too much.. and maybe just have to go DH or Hunter to enjoy time actually playing (im family 40yo man) Thanks!

I would not reccomend it only as yeah, people will deny you. Learn some dev for those early keys. around 10-11 you probably can do it. But I've had 20's where people tell me not to play aug, I've had 24's where people say dont play aug, 12's LOL. I dont think it matters, you might hear it anyway

This is going to sound very unlike me, I wish it was better. You lose so much damage you don’t really bring anything else and the run is typically slower. Have seen it in a 4 dps stack once and that made sense but sadly you give up way too much damage. I wonder if they give black attunement to all evoker if the healing stuff could be more central and easy to get that might be what makes it rad! But the tree is too tight rn for me to wanna grab it

@@Bowserthehealer I honestly understand, when I tested it out, the dungeon run was definitely longer because of the loss of damage. I hope the being support build gets a bit more love (though I can see how it can be too powerful).

Hi Bowser, I have good uptime but some players (from area 52) say my dps is only 60-70K which is too low. I don’t get it? am I doing too low damage, I don’t really understand what I’m doing wrong since I’m doing exactly what you suggest. We timed a key with 10 minutes remaining and then the leader removed me from group and called me trash even though I intted lots of things and did the ghost affix a lot (at least half of them), as well as disrupted lots of casts with tail swipe and earthquake and I also rescued lots of people and saved us from dying/wiping multiple times, I also used Zephyr at opportune moments.

There is a very very very real chance they aren't great at the game and dont know what you actually do. Or don't know how to read detaiils, as if a group is bad the aug's projected damage looks insane... but if the aug does a huge setup correctly this also can happen. But if you are messing up say, ebon might windows? You might be doing very little damage. I responded to your other comment, hit me up on Discord to talk lessons or anything else!

Quick question, for M+ what are you aiming for in-combat EB time? I see people aiming for above 70%

That’s a good number but because of pull length it doesn’t look hot if you’re holding ebon might and things die too fast. So aim for that number in 20+, but as long as it’s above 50-60 in 20+ you probably did fine! I know I’ve had runs where the damage was good but it was 60% uptime because tyrannical the mobs just exploded

Do you think it's good to use my third prescience on the healer so they can heal more, or is it recommended to use it on the tank? This question is based on the third boss of HOI. Should I help the healer to heal more or give it to the tank so they do more DPS?

Not an optimization I think about too much as if the healing is that tough we can change our build to actually give them boosted heals. But I like the idea, esp for pugging. Give it to the healer. Tank damage is useful but more crit never hurts a healer. Esp the long ones if the timer isn’t tight but the heal checks are!

Also I just use a macro so when I use damaging spell(for example eruption) it switches to black attunement so no need to press it separately

Augmentation Players got a bad name because 95% of them were hard carried to 3k+ Rio and did not even know mechanics sometimes. Yet those same Players flamed liek crazy and called players bad and shit and whatnot when they werent as high as them. Simple as that. They brought it over themselves. Ah yes hard carried. When my team is full of monkeys so I have to do everything from dispelling (lovely affix, healer sleeping), pulling people out of fire, off healing (because people don't pay attention), interrupting to even dpsing (sometimes I catch up to normal dps people which is just comical). Such is life

They do make runs smoother, until we need crazy good dps on tyran. I think they have their place in a comp, but they shouldn't be taken all the time.
