Thank you for sharing. I’m attempting to move from large main stages to small Theatre in the Round, Thrust mostly Platform. Thanks

this is really helpful, my schools play is going to be using a 3/4 thrust and this helped show what i’ll have to work around

Cool. Glad the video helped. It's always fun to play on a thrust stage because you're right in the middle of the audience and it's very intimate. Break a leg in the show!

Sir , I want to put a bench in the park scene , so in which stage division shall I put it? Centre down or up?
@AugmentedActor
@AugmentedActor 2 жыл бұрын
You could choose any of those locations. It depends on how much of the scene will take place on the bench. If a lot of important dialogue happens while characters are sitting on the bench then you want to place it downstage so the audience can see and here them. If it’s just used occasionally and is there for decoration it can be anywhere you like it.

The front curtain in the proscenium arch stage is called what? Grand or black or fire curtain?
@AugmentedActor
@AugmentedActor 2 жыл бұрын
If it’s the colorful heavy decorative curtain usually red or blue. That’s a grand curtain or just “the curtain”. Blacks are usually hiding something like the wings but you might have a large black curtain in the back to make it look like nighttime. Those are called blacks. A fire curtain is flat and Grey or white. It’s often made of metal or fire resistant material. It is rolled up and sits directly behind the main curtain. You usually won’t notice it unless someone drops it down in case of a fire. It simply divides the audience from the stage. So if there is a fire on stage it protects the audience. And if there is a fire in the house it protects the cast and crew. Hopefully you will never need to see one drop down.

Can u give different stage plays where they use those theater stages?
@AugmentedActor
@AugmentedActor 2 жыл бұрын
There’s really no singular type of stage which goes with a particular show. I’ve seen the same play in the round and on a price jump arch and on a thrust stage and outside in an arena. You could conceivably do any play on any type of stage.

Sorry - I find the winking etc super cringy and my students will not react well to it. You have some excellent information but the delivery????
@AugmentedActor
@AugmentedActor 10 күн бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. Perhaps my goofy demeanor is not going to land with some audiences. You'll find all sorts of different approaches throughout my videos from the absurd to the straight forward. We can't always please everyone all the time. I also can't remake the video. So you are left with the option of skipping the cringey moments or perhaps not showing it to your students at all? Maybe gleaning the information you find most valuable from the video and teaching it yourself without any sort of humor involved. Or prefacing the viewing with a warning or giving extra credit if they can get to the end without gagging? That's the joy of being a teacher, YOU get to decide how to dispense information to your students. Take care.
