Nasturtiums are one of my favourite annuals. They actually thrive on poor soil, drought and lots of sunshine! Plus they come in a wide variety of bright summery colours - red, oranges, yellows. I was inspired by the pathway planted in Monet's Garden in Giverny and had to have it in my own Lavender border - my piece of France.
Plus Nasturtiums are a great companion plant for edibles -attracting aphids away from your vegetables. It is like a bug trap. This prolific plant can double up as an edible flower and the young leaves with their peppery tasting leaves are great in salads.
To get them started is not the easiest however, despite their touchness.
Watch my vlog for growing this colourful multi-tasking edible.
