Few subjects in literary history are more intriguing to learn about than the "circle of romantics", their debaucherous parties at Lord Byron's estate "Villa Diodati", and their challenge to write the scariest story. Both of Mary's parents were absolute intellectual giants of their time, whose works are both widely read today by those interested in feminist studies (Mary Wollstonecraft), and anarchist/Marxist theory. You are entering a beautiful and exciting rabbit hole! One of the more comprehensive biographies of that group of ruffians is "Shelley: The Pursuit", but I forget the author's name. Happy learning, and keep your fun videos coming!

@TheBicycultist Yes! I knew about the "circle of romantics" but I read a bit more about them today at work. And about Mary Shelley and her parents. I should have read it yesterday to include the info in this video, but better late than never.

Frankenstein is a good read, worth the effort that's for sure. Not a bad day honestly, interesting facts about the writer and such. In school we had to reach Lord of the Flies, Hatchet (lol it was an interesting read but boring) , A Tale of Two cities, all sorts of boring shit. Hell im not even that old but these books basically predate me by god knows how long. The horror genre in general is a decent read all around. Either way, another good day and a good video, hope you have a good friday and weekend :) still looking forward to a stream but no pressure :p

@CloakenDagger666 Yeah, we read A Tale of Two Cities as well. Not Lord of the Flies, but I hear a lot of people mention reading in school. I guess they are the classics for a reason lol I do love horror. Bram Stoker's Dracula is an absolute favorite of mine. Which is why me not ever reading Frankenstein always surprises even myself. I'll just move it up my list!
