I just don't understand why people think his last album was just all about his struggle. He had so many love sex song and hype like I don't get it. And This album is on a mature level I love it...the title of the album goes with all the songs and the songs all reflect on people every day life situations...its deep and well put together

Lorenzo Rucker Dope!

+Lorenzo Rucker I feel like R.Kelly's new stuff is a bit mainstream and honestly womanizing. Loved Ignition Remix, and Same Girl, his older songs. But now with Cookie and Birthday Song, i feel like he has lost it. I'm interested to know your take on the album, as i haven't really talked to anyone that has had positive things to say about his previous 3 albums. Wanna love it, coz i love good ol' Kellz. (Haven't heard The Buffet yet tho, so i can't speak on that)

Great review first of all. Great album, but not as good as Testimony for me. I felt the emotion on that one. Some of them almost had me tearing up/ This one felt a little more forced. I guess i felt like i had heard it all before. Before this album came out, i was hoping it would be more about how his life has changed. Yes he did that with Look How Far I've Come, but it wasn't a theme on the album. I was liking the message of hip hop, as i could feel like he was trying to raise awareness for those that are living right now like he did. But other than that, i feel like he hasn't grown enough. Same old, just not as good as Testimony was. Maybe i had my expectations too high as far as growth. But i've seen comments, like all of August's songs sound the same. And i agree with that. Testimony was a little more balanced. Though i still love him. He isn't mainstream like other artists out there. There is some real substance, great production value, even though repetitive. All in all. 8/10 for me. Maybe higher if Testimony didn't do everything this album did but better.

Great review & recap! I wasn't the highest fan of his early on. Even though I appreciated his vocal ability I hadn't put his first album on repeat in a while. It's great hearing other opinions of those who are more fans of his!
@jamesfurfaro4559 жыл бұрын
+BMOCTV aha yea. After i posted that comment, listened to it a bit more. I did enjoy it thoroughly. I guess on the first album, i thought he had a touching story, and that really resonated with me. But it's good to know it's getting good reviews. Other than Been Around The World, i'm getting used to this album. Now that Royalty, is out, and the Chris Brown and Trey Songz mixtapes are here, i haven't spent much time on it lately. Hoping one day he could join those greats. :)

Hey what's up! The Monica review isn't past due b/c I never said I was going to review it. LOL if you want to know my opinion I can post it to this comment after I listen to it. This week I'm enjoying my holidays with the fam & will return on Sunday for #DaCulture. I may drop my opinion on that but I'm not planning to do a full review on Monica's album.

to me of course I thought this album is dope august alsina never seized to amaze with great music first goes and gets popular to a commercial audience then the terrible new York troubles happen where lost a lot of energy performing nobody even intriguing of hearing this album determining whether or not you fuck with his lane entirely brought back classic hip-hop/R&B songs to modernized for a new foundation favoring 8.5/10 bmoctv prepare for the hate mail cause it's coming others going opposite way of the spectrum

I didn't like his first LP because all the songs sound the same. One can only hope this time around there is more growth and variety.

+Teasha Stewart I heard the same things from people the first go round. I think the 2nd one has some songs that may sound the same sonically & production wise but with different topics & delivery. It's definitely more diverse than the first one (his debut) in my opinion. Let me know when you check this one out!
