Ive watched August Burns Red grow since 2005, i was one of 20 kids watching them in support of Thrill Seeker at the basement of a shitty dive bar in Columbus called Bernies...all 20 kids were doing gang vocals, it was an amazing experience, my old band Woe of Tyrants played with them in 08 in Houston, TX while on tour with This Or The Apocalypse, we jumped on a makeup date from the Messengers Tour...it was easily one of the best experiences of my life, 800 kids, packed out venue...in 2009 at New England Metalfest we opened the main stage, August Burns Red played later in the afternoon alongside many other great bands that weekend...touring in support of Constellations. I was awestruck at how tight and incredible their new material was back then and how big they had become. Always been a huge ABR fan, but the run I had with my band experiencing their live shows first hand doesn't even scratch the surface of ABR's best material. Their newest album is always my favorite album and Guardians truly was a leap forward in their potential that I would like to say I could have seen coming...but honestly they topped themselves in ways I never thought would happen. Grant Mcfarland the old drummer for This or the Apocalypse producing alongside Carson Slovak makes me so happy, Grant's an amazing dude and to know he had a part in producing ABR's material and it be so over the top crispy is just awesome. So stoked these guys perservere and continue to inspire myself and countless others I'm sure at this point. Incredible people and beyond incredible musicians

I almost never comment, but seeing you’re a part of woe of tyrants made me. Used to love you guys growing up, listened all throughout my high school days lol. You were so underrated. Through ABR and TOTA I found you guys eventually as well. It really all comes full circle. Hope all is well with you, man! We still love you guys!

@@Bullishtoast112 thanks alot my dude, yeah we flew under the radar like most metal bands in that era, still to this day its the good natured bands like TOTA, ABR, BTBAM, and Within the Ruins to name a few in our case, that gave us a chance to play in front of their fans and put our fate in our own hands for once! Thanks for the support. Add my KZbin channel and soon I'll be posting my best friend and I's KZbin channel when its live. We will be posting gear reviews of all kinds, mainly guitar gear and production equipment. I will start venturing into music production tutorials and tricks of the trade, as that's what I've been doing mainly nowadays. You'll definitely see some drum playthroughs and guitar playthroughs of the old Woe stuff surface once we're confident with our video and audio quality. Ever since the days I was touring with Woe of Tyrants, I've wanted to post videos where I play the songs and break down some of the parts to teach the techniques I utilize, as fans all over have asked throughout the years. ABR and the new studio they are posted up in have inspired me tenfold...its amazing the quality these videos are, and how straightforward they are. Press play, Matt plays. Matt Smiles and screams WHOOOOOO, video over hahaha

He's definitely one of the best composition writers for drum parts. He always finds new creative parts that you can tell were really thought out. I've certainly seen drummers with more technical ability and all that (there's always someone better than someone else in some way), but Matt is without a doubt one of the best drummers in his area of music.

A reminder to slow down and think with some empathy in your day to day actions. A smile or a kind word can be all it takes to push someone back from a ledge.

This album came out, ironically, right in the midst of the COVID lockdown. I know it personally hurt the band financially, as they saw a drop in album sales compared to their last few albums, even though they still found a spot on the billboard 200...but the lyrical messages couldn't have come at a better time. For myself, and thousands of others I'm sure, I found alot of motivation to go outside my comfort zone and stay mentally strong when faced with isolation and worldwide uncertainty

Thank goodness you kept Jakes voice on for this one🤘🥰🤘Matt I know you were feeling the lyrics. This is how one performs drums. One does not simply hold a beat. They let the passion of the vocals and other instruments speak through their body in a spiritual dance.

As a drummer and fan of August Burns Red, this personally is the best song in their whole repertoire. The emotion, the lyrics, the energy, its so perfectly balanced. And the way he plays it, what he feels, I can relate
