Great tour as always! 👌 Thanks.. Just wanted to ask whether you've got GJ Jaws Smiley or GJ Hellcat in your collection cause I find these cultivars very attractive?

Thanks! I do not have either of those cultivars.. the only of that style I have is mariachi. Might be getting some soon.

Is it possible for you if you can list the stuff you have? I'm trying to look into my own greenhouse set up as well. Possibly see how your repotting process because it looks so organized.

Yeah sure. Here’s the link to my grow list: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1d_5GAHcFNBAkW1Ue3Na7X_6EFIn6IcplZzDleqFMX0k/edit Repotting isn’t really anything special, but I may make a video sometime in the future. The link to the pots is in the description. Bottom to the top lip of the pot is a peat/perlite/sand mix, and the lip to top is a ground up long fiber sphagnum.

Have you tried the Blond sphagnum peat moss from Diflora? I am looking for some peat moss here in europe and the only website that seems to sell it is Diflora, I live in Denmark where we only have Sphagnum moss soil (Not long fibered sphagnum)

Long fibered sphagnum works just as well (if not better), and doesn’t need any added medias like perlite. But I myself have never gotten their peat moss, I would imagine it works fine

@@topazstuf As a beginner grower, I feel like growing them in a soil as a starting point, I've heard that its difficult to repot them when they're in long fibered sphagnum. But how do you even plant them in long fibered sphagnum anyway?? Can you make a video where you show how you plant them in long fibered sphagnum? I would love to learn how to do that 😊

@@Omega3000-y9r I might do some potting and other basic guides down the line, but probably wont do them anytime soon. It is very simple though, and heres a video that explains it well: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qKG7kHWXrbV3gdk You basically fill the pot most of the way up, wrap the rhizome and roots, and place it into the remaining space in the pot. Then, just fill the holes in the corners and its done.

@@topazstuf thank you, looks simple. But wont the moss come back to life? You know like start growing again and turning green. Oh and how do you check if they get enough water? With soil i can feel the soil on top if its humid, is this the same with the moss??
@topazstuf
@topazstuf Жыл бұрын
@@Omega3000-y9r moss sellers almost always sell pre killed moss when it is being used as a media, there is a nearly 100% chance you will not have any living moss spores in the media that can come back to life. Live moss would be amazing to get though, as it helps hold water for longer periods and looks great, but its much more expensive. As for the water, its pretty much the same as peat moss, just overall lighter. It does hold more water for longer periods compared to peat though.

You have a really great collection but i really dont understand why people grow plants that do not perform as advertised like the mutations that are unable to trap and devour insects since they are no longer carnivours and are simply a plant that resembles a carnivorous fly trap
@topazstuf
@topazstuf Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I get why people feel that way, but I’m never going out and feeding my collection bugs to notice which do and do not have trigger hairs. It would be amazing if they all did, but care doesn’t really differ from one that can close to another that can’t… so I don’t mind the lack of carnivory too much.
