In other areas, we have reclaimed old cobble stone that we've collected and purchased from Craig's list, offer up, and Facebook marketplace. We would like to eventually transition the lowes edging stones to more cobblestone as we find it.

Everything is looking great! I had three Ascot Rainbow euphorbia plants here in central Pennsylvania zone 6b and they were coming back every year with some looking better than others. This year I lost one but they aren't exactly in a very protected area of the garden. Also they tend to be slower to flush back during the spring plus some will bloom and others don't. Good luck!

i always thought hibiscus was a beautiful flower, however i am in love with the red ones. i am impressed with the variety and health of ur gardens. u mix color, texture and height very well. i have some allium that looks like that. i'm wary of it being too aggressive but it doesnt seem to have taken over ur garden.

re the yellow rubekia [sp], sometimes just a bit of a color is much more attractive to us. i love bold solid colors and have collected several colors of rubekia which give me much joy. i have them scattered among my vegetables to brighten up the mass of green. ur august garden tour was great fun.

Love your garden! Here in Michigan I started from seed the fiery sunrise blend gomphrena. It is a mixed orange blend. Kind of hard to get it going, but well worth it and I will plant again. Started in milk cartons and direct seed.

I'm in CT and my plants have been blooming since early June and they don't seed/spread. Highly recommend the Verbena as well, mine is in a container and its blooms are tiny but mighty and covered in 🐝s

Its a beauty! I love it so much. I can see it as I come down my driveway, and while I do dishes from my kitchen window and it makes me so happy! My quick fire is in afternoon sun for now, until that magnolia tree fills out more. It handles it beautifully!! I think they are rated to handle sun.

Mulch mulch mulch that fringe flower. I’m in zone 8a and I have those. A hard frost in December killed all my Lavender and I thought my fringe flower. It started growing back but it’s very slow. So protect it!!

Hi there! Thank you so much. I sure did, its so easy, anyone can do it. The zinnia seeds are small, so you just press them into the soil and barely cover them. Water them until they germinate, or if its been really dry/no rain. Otherwise they are pretty drought tolerant. I will show seeding annuals flowers next season.

Hi Tonnie! Thank you so much!! I have tried ovevrwintering them before and they took a while to get going the following spring. I didn't get blooms until almost August vs buying new ones and having blooms in May. I might try again, but haven't decided yet. If I did, I would be sure to offer them lots of heat via a heat mat and very sunny window to break them out of dormancy a bit sooner and perhaps they would do better than they did for me last time I tried to overwinter them. Hope this helps.

Hi there, We also have lots of bunnies this year. They haven't bothered my hibiscus. Two things, I do spray Invisible fence deer and rabbit occasionally. Also, we have lots of clover around our lawn area that they tend to be satisified with, at least for now. Thank you so much!! 🌱

So pretty Steph absolutely love your gardens!!! I wondered if you could tell me what possibly could be going on with my Standard Quickfire, planted last summer and it produced lots if buds but the flower blooms are very sparse and some turning brown?

Hi Michelle! I find that my bobo's that were beautiful in July & half way through August, have started to brown. Last year I blamed it on the lack of water, and high heat we experienced. But this year fortunately we've had plenty of water, and now tons of humidity. So I want to say that the damp humid weather could be the culprit this year. Its a fine balance of when they will look and perform well. My quickfire is in a part shade spot (morning shade, afternoon sun), and is doing well. Regarding them being sparse, did you prune it? Sometimes if you don't prune you get lots of smaller blooms vs. when pruning you get larger blooms. The smaller thin/twig like branches can't support large blooms, so the blooms tend to be smaller. I would say to prune it late winter early spring, and fertilize it with something like Rose Tone, or Holly Tone, or Plant Tone, and see how it does next season. Hope this helps.

@HookedandRooted thank you I will definitely give that a try. I didn't prune it, it was just planted last summer. I also have a Limelight and little lime that were planted same time, didn't prune. Do you think I should in early Spring? I did a little on those but not much.

Do you trim your little lime hydrangea? Mine are abut 3 years old also but their blooms are little, I have never trimmed them .

Hi Sandra, Yes. I prune them each year in late winter, or very early Spring. My understanding is if you don't prune, you end up with lots of smaller blooms because those grow on those smaller thin branches. If you go in and clean up the shrub taking out any crossing branches, and any twiggy growth, and just leave a firm strong structure, they are better able to handle bigger blooms. I’ve been gardening for a long time but never grew a mandevilla , do you treat it as an annual? Are your white Luna hibiscuses a smaller kind or will they get as big as the perfect Sturm? Lovely tour , you got great variety going on in your gardens

Hi Amy! Yes, its an annual. However, some people have been successful with overwintering it. The one year I tried, it took a long time to get going again the following spring. My Luna hibiscus are a bit smaller than the proven winners variety. Thank you so much 💚

Do you have to spray your zinnias for bunny and deer pressure?

Hi there! I have a couple times, but it's been hard to keep up with spraying this year with all of the rain we've received. The rain is a blessing compared to the heat and drought from last year. I haven't sprayed recently, and so far, they haven't touched them. Fingers crossed that continues. The deer did reach over my vegetable garden fence though and ate some dahlias.
