Out of this world! I am old and my first violin teacher saw Ysaye play. He told me he never could figure out how Ysaye could play individual strings because his fingers were so thick. He said the violin looked 3/4 size in his hands.

Wow! Again, I am left speechless from Augustin's performance. The experience is different for everyone! if I may share mine: I'm a viola player and when I switched to it at 12 years old I hadn't learned the serious musician's violin repertoire and so I wasn't familiar with the Bach E Major prelude for violin. I heard this Ysaÿe's "Obsession" on KZbin before hearing the Bach prelude. So I was actually more shocked when I realised there was more to the opening phrase that's played here when I eventually listened to Bach's prelude! Needless to say: I learned at age 12 that this was a nod to Bach and the clue is in the title that Ysaÿe could not get this motif out of his head and he expanded on it in his own unique way! Very nice performance by Hadelich, I love it :)
