This reminds me of what happened to my game claw machine zone. It got extremely popular, but another person that had a similar type game called “advanced claw machines” (rosefront100) made a false claim that I stole things from his game. He did this because his threats that he said to me did not cause me to private the game in fear. In reality, the “stolen” things I supposedly had was a brick wall design found in thousands of Roblox games. Roblox moderation being Roblox moderation deleted my game. Now I am losing money all because some @ that hates me and my game. I am currently battling the issue with Roblox, but for now, I suggest reporting rosefront100 for threatening me and my players for having a game that is too good for him

The problem is not really KZbin itself. It's the law that forced them to have this awful DMCA system. If they don't comply and remove a video when someone makes a copyright claim they could lose their safe harbor protection. That means they would be liable for the copyright infringing material users upload. As far as I know they don't have to remove someone exactly after three strikes, but they do have to remove people who keep infringing copyright at some point.

I remember about 20 years ago or more I was at a concert and I had the band's permission to film it- I didn't personally know the band but I showed up with a camcorder (yes I'm old) and saw the band outside and explicitly asked them if I could film their set. Mind you this was YEARS before social media is what it is today. The band said it was absolutely fine, but after about 20 minutes I was told I couldn't record the set by security, even though I had the artist's explicit consent to do so. Not quite sure where I was going with this, but in a nutshell, copyright is a messy area. There we go.😊

@@courtykat Also there's some massive issues with venue security being full of a-holes with huge chips on their shoulders and power tripping, to the point some small local bands just ask other locals' roadies to do security instead. Source: my dad was in the local music scene as a sound tech once he retired from being a lead guitarist/keyboardist in a cover band, he had almost as many bad experiences with venue security as he did with the beligerent drunks.

In terms of a lot of people not looking at KZbinrs as legal copyright holders, I think it’s because of these two things: 1. A lot of content online, especially video sharing platforms rely on other forms of content like commentary, reaction, and review videos, and this is due to as you said the laws on the internet being loose due to how new it is, and online culture is based around that. Speaking of which… 2. I see a lot of people online annoyed about how monetary focused the internet has become, in particular KZbin, and this mindset might be why also.

People really don't understand copyright. There was a KZbinr who sued another KZbinr (and it went to court) over the second KZbinr putting together a reel of clips of the first KZbinr doing something to make his point (which was stated as the title of the video). It was obviously transformative and commentary, but the first KZbinr was confident because all of the footage was from their videos... they lost and had to pay legal fees. Akilah Hughes didn't understand copyright and had to pay out after a failed attempt to sue. Make sure you don't make the same mistake random person on KZbin.

One of my old channels got copyright strike from a KZbinr I won't name for personal reasons, it sucked, I didn't have audio, and I was just scrolling through shorts to see if TikTok or KZbin is better (For the video). I woke up the next day and my video had 1 view, but it also had a copyright strike from a KZbinr that I actually enjoyed watching before this happened, it was like 10-15 second of the video without audio, I shrugged it off because I didn't know that it was actually the KZbinr that made the claim and I thought it was just KZbin themselves, but after watching this video, I understand how it works, and that I was in the right, and they had copyright striked me for no reason other than a few seconds of muted audio from 1 KZbin short out of 50 shorts. I don't wanna get into law and court stuff so I let it go, but I still don't watch the KZbin today...
