Robin Hobb's Farseer Trilogy, that's right. Not just Royal Assassin, which is only the 2nd book. This song covers all 3 of them. Best books I've ever read. It's such a beautiful story. I was constantly crying while reading them. No other writer has accomplished that so far. And I read a lot. ;)

The song that you are on about that is based on a story is Jillian (I'd Give My Heart). I know this for a fact as she even explained that the story was one of her favourites and what it was about when I went to see Within Temptation at London Astoria. Great song, love this band to bits, Sharon has a really great voice.

I believe it's "The Farseer Trilogy" by Robin Hobb. Which includes the books "Assassin's Apprentice", "Royal Assassin" and "Assassin's Quest". Not read them myself but seem to recall hearing it mentioned, and the plot outlines for the books fits well with the song.

there is no gothic/symphonoc metal band that does not use playbacks.within temptation is using less than others.(lacuna coil-sirenia-unsun and others)The worst one is the back up vocals of nightwish at Tarja era.Her own voice recorder 3 and more times and playied back to cover her detuned vocals.Also mind that a laptop this the suitable programs can make midi keybords sound like more than an orchestra!At least the have a keyboard player!
