These are the weirdest and stupidest assumptions I've seen, He lost because De Ridder grappled him better. Aung La wasn't "overconfident" or "cocky", he lost because he lacked in ground tricks and many other things that De Ridder worked on.

Aung needs to work on ground fighting. That seems to be his weakness. He should have known the kind of fighter the ridder is. He even made clear what his intentions were. Ground fighting is part of mma, Aung has won with submissions in the past. De Ridder was just too good for him. Deserved win. I prefer " Aung La MADE A MISTKAE of giving his back. " (I am his fan. I've been watching all his moves and I knew that was his weakness for a long time ago. Sometime you can see that when he used heavy round kick, he gave his back to his opponent too. And he didn't often use his elbow. So that was always the problem.) People can say whatever they want and judge by only looking the match. But ground game is not easy as it looks. Especially Back Mount. Back Mount is my favorite and very first move I knew when I learned BJJ in 2013. You can also say that it's the hardest move to defend in BJJ. Once your opponent gets your leg and back in position. Then you are done for 99.9999% sure. Once ridder got that position very well, I already knew and accepted he gonna lose. But Aung la defends it for like 2 and 50 minutes. So that means he still good in ground fight. There's a reason for calling him PYTHON too.
