@@donjohn2695 I'm aware some fights were fixed in Pride. I think Gary Goodridge claimed as high as 90%, but he's one to talk, taking dives for paycheques for all those years after Pride. Not taking his word for it. As for this fight? I only watched the finish, but it didn't set off any bs detectors. I'll try to give the fight a look later.

Nah, striking won't work against Schilt because he isn't just tall, he is an extremely skilled striker and the greatest heavyweight kickboxer of all time. In fact he is in the GOAT conversation in kickboxing regardless of weight class. To beat him you have to take him down and maul him like Fedor and Kharitonov did against him.

Раньше турниры были, ещё во времена Прайда, назывались Давид против Голиафа, по моему. Так во, по крайней мере в тех турнирах, которые я смотрел, как правило, Давид, то есть боец который поменьше, побеждал в большинстве случаев. Фёдор тоже много здоровяков больше себя побеждал. Но тут мне показалось что бойцы достаточно низкого класса, и вес и размер играли решающую роль. Плюс к тому же здоровяк, сразу заметно, просто физически сильней, так что из болевых он может просто за счёт физухи выходить. Если бы на месте дааида был кто нибудь физически посильнее и порезче, то всё могло бы быть по другому. Ну а тут просто избиение получилось, боец не был готов не морально, ни физически, на мой взгляд.

You can't make conclusions based on 1 fight and there are various factors involved like style, skill level etc. Schilt is the greatest heavyweight kickboxer of all time, but in MMA he lost to Fedor, Barnett, got brutally mauled by Kharitonov and lost to many other fighters. Height becomes a problem when you face a grappler because tall guys have bad balance and also have to cover greater distance to sprawl to defend leg based takedowns. That's why Schilt got ragdolled by the guys I mentioned. In kickboxing Schilt was almost unbeatable (although he was quite boring and used to abuse his reach), but in MMA he could easily be beaten by wrestlers.
