Auntie/ Kendra/ Dad -- when I was doing food water for my kitty who has now passed on, I settled on a spec. measurement of food, amount of boiling water, and a set time to stir in the bowl before I set it before him -- so the temp would be close to right each time and he wouldn't get burned. Small amounts, 5 or so times a day for best result and less waste. I can't remember the exact ratio now, but generally started with a Tablespoon of presc. diet food. Think 'Gravy train' , if you remember that dog food commercial on TV -- soft and warm in warm broth.

I have found that animals don’t like anything much warmer than skin temperature. We used to have horses and when their water would freeze we would have to carry hot water to melt the ice .They wouldn’t drink water that was even warm.

I give my neighbor's cat food water too. He absolutely loves it! Then the birds eat the leftovers. I became allergic to cats. I miss having one, so spoiling my neighbor's cat is the closest to owning one I can get. 😢

You might try a Siberian breed cat. They have long fur but are hypoallergenic. We found ours as a stray. But I'm sure with time you would be able to find one at a rescue or pound.

Warm water mixed with food. It’s for her medical conditions so her stomach isn’t upset as easily. I do this for my cat who has bladder stones and is on the same prescription food. Billi has several conditions, there are several videos about that. I actually believe cats do better with some wet food mixed with water and do it now for all my cats, even with a water fountain. It looks like Billi has close to the 1 cup per day of water added to her dry food.

Because of her bladder issues, Billi is on a very restricted diet and can't have the ordinary kind of treats you can give a cat. "Food water" is kibble and water heated in the microwave to release the flavor of the food into the water, and then allowed to cool. Although sometimes not cool enough.
