Probably her uncle through marriage, so her mother or father’s sister’s husband’s brother.

Quran 4:34 "Men are in charge of women by [right of] what Allah has given one over the other and what they spend [for maintenance] from their wealth. So righteous women are devoutly obedient, guarding in [the husband's] absence what Allah would have them guard. But those [wives] from whom you fear arrogance - [first] advise them; [then if they persist], forsake them in bed; and [finally], *strike them.* But if they obey you [once more], seek no means against them. Indeed, Allah is ever Exalted and Grand." According to the inerrant word of God, it is a man's right to do so. That is what the noble and peaceful faith says.

I was spellbound, amused and heartened in equal measure by these fantastic women and their brilliant idea to reach out to the young Muslims in their community. I'm a native Geordie, brought up in a tiny village 6 miles west of Ncle upon Tyne and christened in the Methodist (very long lapsed) faith. What we have in common is the strong maternalistic upbringing and mindset. These inspiring women rock and I could watch their adventures all day. What a lucky bunch of kids to get/share their wisdom. Grrrl power! ❤😊

My Mums neighbour who was born and raised in Bradford was taken to Pakistan for a 'holiday" She was then married to a much older man she had just met. He turned out to be a physically abusive drunk.....she left him but "lost" her family because she had dishonoured the family.

I really enjoyed watching this. I'm a Geordie and most of my family were pitmen.... and I remember thinking my parents way of thinking was from the dark ages. But this reminded me of when I was a kid and we used to go to Blackpool every year on a coach trip. It was organised by our town for the old aged miners, and our trips were exactly the same... we'd make snacks to take (usually boiled eggs and sandwiches :-/ ) and my aunties, uncles and cousins would all be there... and we'd alway have fish & chips. We may all be from different cultures and genrations... and we'll always have our problems, but we have much more in common that brings is together than divides us.

Cousin marriage is common with the religious culture. In Pakistan its as high as 68% for 1st and 2nd cousins and ither relations. Throughout countries who have this as the majority faith it is common.
@jhunt55788 ай бұрын
@annacroixx I did write "and other relations". But it just so happens that most related marriages with the religious culture are cousin marriages. There's large amounts of cousin marriages even in the UK community. I think its relevant.

@@Oasis194 Mo is to be emulated within the religion, the 1st generation are considered to be the best. Mo and many of the early leaders practiced cousin marriage. Add to that the motivation to marry within the family as it kept inheritance from “going to another family” in the eyes of practicers. Cousins are Halal, this is why women are to cover in front of their cousins. This is the causation. Go and look at the rates throughout countries that follow the faith.

All that matters is someone’s experience. The people saying they went through it have a right to feel however they feel. At this point, after being married, they wish they had a chance to do something different. That’s not a spin, that’s first-hand perspective.

@@chunli99Everyone's experience is first hand, the issue is why certain experiences are cherry-picked by the media over others. If this gathering, which to be fare, seemed pretty benign and positive, had taken place in a white working-class community, the BBC would've given it a different tonal rendering. Sinister music would by playing over the top of the visuals.
