Normally they want to know what means of transport you used and the matatu number to see if you can count so if you used a matatu number 28 for example you can say, “Ich bin mit matatu Nummer acht und zwanzig von Nairobi hier gefahren.”

Do we need to answer those questions in German? Or we can answer it in English. As A1 German is only the basic level of the language, it would make me nervous to answer those questions.

The interview will be both in german and English. If they ask questions in german you should answer in german
