Take the program (BS MedTech) not just solely as a PreMed but as a profession as a whole. Kailangan mong mahalin at buong tanggapin na ito ang pinili mo. Hindi siya madali at maraming nagigive up along the way because ang dahilan nila “Ayoko naman maging medtech, PreMed ko lang to.” Not the kind of mindset that you should follow. Nonetheless, the program will test your character, perseverance, and skills to prepare you to the challenges of being a Doctor. At the end of the day, follow your calling and put in mind that no matter your premed will be, you are called for a greater purpose. Good luck!

Because medtech is heavy on science, you will be bombarded with memorization and correlations. It is also very procedure-centered and is geared towards problem-solving. All laboratory results are correlated with presumptive diagnoses, history, and procedure/machine controls to assure accuracy and precision... na tama ang nilabas mong resulta. The skills you learn matters even more than the subjects themselves (e.g., critical thinking, memorization techniques, study habits, etc.) Medical Technologists also have specialties like Molecular Diagnostics or Transplant Immunology to name a few

Medtech also has Human Anatomy and Physiology. We also have Biochemistry same with other pre med courses but in Medtech we continue to Clinical Chemistry which comprises Endrocinology, Toxicology, Liver Functions, Kidney Functions, etc. So I agree that aside being Pathologist in the future, IM would be an ideal specialty as well.

Hello! Your comment intrigued me and I think your opinion would be a great help for my decision in the future. I'm still torn between Nursing and Med Tech as my pre med course to take in college. Knowing fully well that there is no "best" pre med course to take in preparation for med school, how do these two courses stack beside one another in terms of work opportunities, both outside and inside the country, and their stability (salary) if I do so choose not to proceed to into med school.

MT, MD here. During my Medtech years, we started as A-Z blocks and ended up to only 2 sections in 3rd year. Struggle was real. Every day, you have practical exams. If you do well in Microbiology/Parasitology, Histology, etc then you will not find it hard in your 2nd year Medicine. Medical Technology is not an easy course ( I graduated at Velez College) but it will prepare you to survive Medicine. Deal with the Clinicals later. You will develop your skills when you go into clerkship.

@@alyssavasquez3580 hello, i ended up taking BS Psychology (: my tita who's a doctor now advised me not to take a difficult and complicated pre med course kasi the advantages daw ng med tech ay itteach pa din sa med school so better to take a course na mas chill sa med tech dahil patayan na daw sa med school wag ko daw patayin yung self ko sa pre med course ko. still, this is an advise coming from my tita. take the course that you really want para maenjoy mo din. as for my experience now, nageexcel naman ako even though di ko natake yung dream pre med course ko since my goal is to be a doctor. any pre med course will do ❤ goodluck!

This help a loooooooot. I'm entering college soon and i'm sceptical if medical technology is really for me. I've heard stories about how hard it is, how they shouldn't entered this and that. That us immersion/ojt students should be practical about what course we should take and that med tech is a wrong choice for them. bata pa lang ako, dream ko na talaga maging doctor. unfortunately, when our hs grad was approaching, i was unbelievingly shocked na wala akong plan on what pre-med course to take. and within the 4 years of my medtech journey, i admit na the only reason i was completing it was because too many people advised me it's the best pre-med course. fast-forward, i went straight to med school, i took and passed my MTLE while in freshman med. I don't regret taking medtech, cos there was less shock for me when i entered med school, and also somehow i learned to love medtech as a profession especially when i reached 3rd and 4th yr. when youre a medtech grad, you're really used to info overload, and it's gonna test your emotional intelligence.

i am currently a medical technology student in ust and sobrang hectic ng schedules, there are times na talagang mauubusan ka ng time and energy from social life and family life, as in puro aral. there are times din na sabay sabay lahat ng majors sa exam though i think its a good practice for med school, and sobrang daming practical and moving exams. if you’re brave and willing enough to experience these challenges, then i recommend bs medtech to u!

Hi Doc Aura!! I share the same sentiments as you do regarding being queasy around or straight-up afraid of blood. I have had childhood trauma that has lead to a conditioning in which I experience syncope when needle procedures are done on me, but not when I am the one doing those same procedures on others. I'm looking forward to de-conditioning myself, because I genuinely do enjoy MedTech subjects and really aspire to become a doctor! I'm starting my 2nd semester of Freshman year soon. 💖

actually mas maganda ung physical theraphy . med tech ako pero nahihirapan talaga ang sa anatomy and physiology ang direct track ng PT eh surgeon . maganda yan promise pero halos 90% memorization at di un biro dahil ultimo kaliit liitang ugat iba name at functions . need mo ng marameng panahon mag kabisado ng parts and functions jan . malaki advantage mo sa med school sa 1st yr and 2nd yr kaya makukuha mo momentum ng pag aaral mahihiralan kana sa 3rd yr and 4th yr

Yes it is!!! Especially if u really love science specifically anatomy and physio ksi more on ganon sa 1st year eh. And syempre if u really have the passion to help other people un talaga yun. Read some reviews ng mga universities sa PHYSICAL THERAPY u can search it on google it helped me before to choose this program. ++ u can have a glimpse na din sa mga experiences nila during college days....

As a medtech student yeaahh sobrang dami mong need isacrifice if u want to pursue this profession. Dito ka mababaliw na ewan HAHAHAH araw araw quiz hindi lang isa tatlo, kabi-kabilaan na activities and assignments asahan mo na to kaya time management talaga. Stressful pero naeenjoy ko naman since I really like science talaga💖 best advice if you want to take this course know yourself first kung ano ang strengths and weaknesses mo also kailangan mo din magbaon ng tyaga at tiwala sa sarili. Kudos to all medtechs out there✨💖

Matagal na po akong subscriber niyo and happy po ako kasi gumawa po kayo ng video about us MedTechs! ❤️ I hope tong video na 'to mag serve as inspiration sa maraming tao to pursue BS Medical Technology. MedTechs are more than just "taga-examine ng stool at urine" and "taga kuha ng dugo". Isa rin sila sa mga nagsisilbing "heroes" in the Medical Field kasi it takes great skills to be a Med Tech, hindi talaga siya biro, pero it's definitely fun and you acquire so much skills. Sa mga future RMTs diyan, laban lang and always do your best. "Ora et labora" -Pray and Work

Elementary pa lang ako gusto ko na mag medtech kasi madalas ako tumambay sa clinic ng mom ko at natuwa ako sa mga nakikita ko sa laboratory. RMT na ako for a year now. Sadly, Hindi na ako naka-proceed ng Med School kasi wala nang support financially. Hehe. Pero masaya ako ngayon as a RMT. :)

Awwwweeee, Thanks Doktaura!!! I am a medtech student din po and first year ko pa lang sobrang nakakaoverwhelm na lahat ng minemerize and inintinding concepts. There are times na kailangan magpuyat para magaral at iisipin na lang na after this day ‘magpapahinga ako at matutulog ng mahaba’ But Thanks talaga kay God nasusurvive ang bawat araw na dumadating!!!
