She's a rather fun boss. Joy aside, she has a lot of attacks to use. In her normal form, she likes to flip around and shoot energy blasts, sometimes latching onto Samus to sap her energy (in which case shake her off).
Her other forms consist of her transforming into Rundas, Ghor, a Pirate Aerotrooper, a Berserker Lord, a tornado of Swarmbots, and lastly Samus herself. Use every weakness for each form against her, though the last three might have no weaknesses at all.
After a while, she'll open the arena's walls to allow you to run blindly into the acid rain. Stay on the center, or else this fight will become real hell with just two seconds of wandering into the rain.
Her Hypermode below 25% of her health doesn't do much other than powering up her normal attacks.
Grapple Voltage
Now the Grapple Lasso can drain or give energy to appliances, such as terminal stations. Note that doing so will use your Energy Tanks depending on the task. You will always do the opposite thing with every terminal station you find that doesn't have.
Space Pirate Data
After taking the train, you'll find the lore titled The Leviathan in front of you.
Screw this place and head for Elysia, preferably the Main Docking Site.

To this day the GF Trooper being revealed to be Gandrayda is one of the craziest twists I've ever experienced in a game. I had completely forgotten she was in this game let alone that she can transform, and when she started laughing at me I honestly felt pretty dumbfounded and stupid. She legit got me good.

Rundas had a heart of a Hero... someone who didnt want to fight but was forced to without reason (its like being body controlled... watching it all without being able to do anything)... @@Scudmaster11 Yeah I love all of them too, in fact Prime 3 is my favourite Metroid game if I had to pick. But the sad thing in my view is I think them getting killed gave Dark Samus her edge and the whole series that very 'serious' feel. It really pumped and drove you to competing the game at it fullest to exact revenge on DS.

Gandrayda may have been hard to hit, but that kinda made the fight more fun. When she died, it was a nice touch that she cries out for Samus' help while she transforms into her current state (complete with the Hypermode effect if still in Hypermode before the cutscene).

I think the game's story progresses a lot like the 5 stages of grief. Denial: The scientists utilize your phazon mutation into a PED version of your own suit. They assure you that they found no corruption, and problems don't prop up until midway through the jungle planet, where you have the potential of becoming another Dark Samus. And then you encounter Rundas. You're unaware that he is no longer in control until he attacks. Rundas himself... looks like he's fighting against his own corruption. Anger: Definately comes to a head when you see Ghor. He, unlike Rundas, attacks you directly and takes on an agressive tone when he upgrades. Plus, he has the red hot plasma beam. Samus herself shoots at the Dark Samus hologram after beating him. Bargaining: A bit more subtle, but Gandrayda here disguises herself as a disressed trooper to get your attention. When you kill her, she reaches out to you. And don't even get me started on her grapple attack. No homophobe or anything, but damn, I'm not the only one seeing this, right? Depression: By the time she dies, Samus has just had it. The victory against the last hunter just seems hollow, as the last of her friends is absorbed. Her expression displays more emotion than most of Other M. And on Phaaze, the phazon begins to eat away at her much like depression. It will transform her lest she confront her dark side. Acceptance: And that's what she does. Players who obtained over 75 percent of the upgrades will see a bonus cutscene where she reflects upon the victims of this war, quite possibly releived that her friends' deaths were not in vain.

You know what I find very funny is that by her first transformation may have been an indication of Sylux and she may have fought or seen Sylux before. For those who don't know in FF Sylux is apparently seen to what looks to be wearing a G.F. Suit or something similar.

You can see Samus tilt her head slightly at 0:20 because she found it odd that the GF Marine wasn't following her. Also, Space Pirates never take prisoners, so Samus was a bit suspicious how that Marine managed to survive for that long.

I’ve done it before, but when she turns into the swarm bots, and you hit her just right with the screw attack, you can deal MASSIVE damage. I remember years ago I did a hypermode run through on the trilogy version of the game. Went from phase 1 to 2 within 20 seconds.

Feel like if they resurrect Dark Samus in Prime 4 they’ll use Gandraya’s DNA to do it given her mimicry and being infected by Dark Samus/Prime. It would he very in-line with Metroid’s biggest inspiration, the “Alien” films.
