Boros often gets screwed, but have you ever seen or played a General Ferrous Rokiric deck? Hexproof from monocolored alone is absolutely gross, as it just locks out a lot of decks from removing him easily. Add to that the trigger that he summons a bonus 4/4 Golem whenever you play a multicolor spell, and his army gets REALLY big, really quickly.

I love my general ferrous deck. Put a restriction that I could ONLY run multicolored or colorless artifacts. No monocolored cards. Naturally I got two Aurelias in it. But playing only boros cards effectively has made me understand Mald is right. Boros definitely needs it.

@@UniversalJuan Yeah, I focused on just making the golems into absolute beaters with Blade Historian/Neyali (double strike), Balefire Liege (+2/+2 and every boros spell is a free Lightning Helix), Iroas, Legionnaire's Initiative, Glass of the Guild Pact, Flowering of the Pale Tree Also, Tocasa's Welcome has a pretty stupid interaction with him. Your golems have CMC = 0, so you can draw an extra card each turn whenever you play a boros spell. Also, if somebody lets me set it up, Nahiri's Resolve + Dockside Extortionist can generate an unreasonable amount of mana.

Gatecrash drafts were nuts. Prerelease night Aurelia was a super hot ticket for obvious reasons all masterfully stated above, but she doesnt need the artifacts in limited with that raw PUNCH. Love this card as a commander and loved her so much during Gatecrash release.

I've got an Aurelia extra combats tribal deck with a bunch of "when you attack" triggers. It's not amazing, but it is fun. Plus it's hilarious every time someone thinks they're safe, and one removal spell or equipment later, they're taking 21 commander damage out of goddamn nowhere.

As a fun aside, can see four additional Aurelia per combat phase if you have Anointed Procession and Mondrak, Glory Dominus up. And upcoming Ojer Taq, Deepest Foundation from Lost Caverns can triple the number of tokens, so 4-12 bonus angel muscle mommies each combat phase for the stampede with that Helm of the Host.

I mean, sure, but all of that is literally just “win more.” You don’t need token multipliers with Aurelia. Once you get the Helm on Aurelia, you will only ever attack with however many token copies you have. Even if it’s just the brand new one, that’s still enough to get you another combat step and a new token to keep the infinite combat loop going. You would be much better served using those slots for spells which protect your important pieces.

oh hey, it's the only commander i've ever used! i liked taking her in the direction of adding other effects that grant extra combat steps, doubling damage or granting double strike. Two-Handed Axe was made for me haha Soltari Visionaries and Soltari Guerrillas are super hot secret tech, i regularly had other players at the table read them and go "i have to get a copy" lmao. both are creatures with Shadow (which is 99% just "unblockable and can't block") and effects that care about attacking other players' life points directly, and getting multiple pops of each effect per turn is a lot of fun

Solid boros commanders include Feather and Gisela. Feather for combat tricks and weirdly storm strats, and gisela for multiplying nukes. It is incredibly satisfying to hit the skysovereign damage procs with gisela and/or the fiery emancipation in play. =]

I think Aurelia was the first commander I tried to build a few years ago but my tiny brain couldn't comprehend a 6-mana commander then, so I ended up looking elsewhere. Then some time passed and the first Boros deck I actually finished was a Zabaz the Glimmerwasp Modular +1/+1 counter bullshit deck that's ten times more complicated to play on Untap than it would be in person. Might revisit Aurelia after seeing this video though, def sounds fun after hearing some of the strategy explained.

Why I run her with clue tokens, swords to get mana, the one ring, sunbirds invocation to cast a 7 drop and look at the top 7 cards to play a card that costs less than 7, and made it angel tribal for roaming throne and angel cost reducing spells. Plus with the new Aurelia I draw cards from my double attacking triggers.
