A fine recording, and a reminder of how much must have been lost in the recording process- Pertile must have been astounding in life in the opera house. And how "authentic" the voice sounds- (I cannot think of another word for it) but surely verismo was written with this type of sound in mind!

@meltzerboy In this instance, I prefer the fresh, boyish sound of Gigli's 1929 Victor. But there is not denying the deeply felt expressivity of Pertile's softer singing.
