I really enjoyed watching this interview with the hindsight of the last couple of years. As a fellow Englishman, Troy offers me a welcome invitation to the band. For me, the official appointment of Troy back in 2013 has been the single most important event that has happened to Nightwish. His friendship with Tuomas has infused the music, and Troy's influence can be heard in so many of the compositions of both Nightwish and Auri of course. Thank you for this.

Today I received the new Auri album. I have put the world on hold to listen to the CD in loop. So good, Johanna has a very special voice and the more I listen to it the more I want to listen to it. For me, Auri is a kind of Nightwish light without the solid metal but with the poetic lyrics, the music that has no equal. Folky, a bit dreamy, certainly because of the input of Troy, delicious arrangements with the well-known Tuomas twists. I swear I heard a bodhran in Lights and Floods. Is this the first time Troy used a Bodhran in an Auri or Nightwish song? I don't think I heard that before. But... Right now, I can't say I have a favorite song, it's hard to choose and I'm not going to do that. Definitely recommended, you should definitely listen to it.

What I found most interesting is the way certain songs grow on me, where I start off like "yeah, nice" and after a few listens its like the best song ever. Guess I need some time to discover the complexities and lyrics. Night 13 is such a song and it also is true for Pearl Diving and The Valley. Fox example in The Valley there are these quite abrupt dynamic changes which threw me off initially. Now that I know the song more I expect them and find them very fitting but on the first listen it was kinda too unexpected to be comfortable.

@@deeteenw Yeah, exactly. Can't explain it either. But I don't need it explained, I just want to enjoy, LOL.

There's a bodhran in 'The Islander'. It's a bit in the background, but clearly audible at the end of the song
