You see at the start all the dancers are dancing in sync with each other very choreographed, representing what society says we should do or how we should be. Then in the end they are all dancing out of the circle in their own “crazy” way, representing them just being them and doing and owning their own thing / style

She said the spark for the song was knowing they still have "Conversion therapy" for Gay people in many parts of the world (including Norway) And since she is Bisexual, she is part of the community, so it is very personal to her. She truly is a gift to humanity. I just love her. She cares so much about equality and making everyone feel seen and loved. No, this is not my favorite song of hers, but It is so fun and the message is so on point. The video is so "Aurora" It's been stuck in my head for days now. None of us, gay or straight, need a cure for who we are. That is her message here. And the dance and some of the surroundings are based on Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland

Aurora said the song does not represent the album. It is quite separate, but it joins the story of the whole album. Aurora herself finds the dance quite ugly in a beautiful way. 😁 The song in general goes against institutes that offer a so-called cure for homosexuality. Which is still practiced today. And of course it should increase self-confidence and self-esteem for everyone who needs it. I think that she's also pointing the (middle)finger at her critics and against people who call others crazy or creepy or laugh at them just because they dress differently, have ticks or otherwise fall out of the norm. All movements that are otherwise involuntary with her, she makes here with full intention. Her wide open eyes, her hand movements, Shaking her head and her involuntary twitches. Everything is clearly highlighted with the camera in various separate settings. That didn't have to be so it was intentional. "I don't need a cure for me" The apple is from the Garden of Eden (the forbidden fruit and sin) and Aurora likes to bite in.😁. Which brings us to the Christian faith and its views on what love between two people should look like. In addition, the apple could also be a reference to the sentence she once said in an interview. Why can't there be a wish inside an apple? Anything is possible if you believe in it. 😁 I think the "Exist for love" reference at the very beginning (Aurora in the Crystal Ball on the Shell) had its reason. The song was also criticized. That wouldn't be Aurora and why is she singing such a song? Why only love between man and woman? And so on. The usual stupid talk. Aurora has also released her own mini-game with exactly the sound from the chorus. 😉 In general, there are many special details in the video that have meaning. The black and white floor on which she dances or the glued 7 and 9 angular stars in her face and on the floor. She painted the masks herself and her sister made her outfit. It should also create a bridge to "Exist for love". And by the way, the video is inspired by Alice in Wonderland. In Buddhism, the nine is the highest spiritual power and the associated symbol is the nine star (enneagram), which is composed of a circle and triangles. People with the number 9 are warm, intelligent, wise counselors, and good listeners. A nine-pointed star also stands for perfection All features apply to Aurora

You really got on the right track with the whole "we diagnose too fast" things. Aurora has said that she was bullied in school because she was different. But her parents always let her be who she was and did not want to take her to the doctor and get a diagnose. It is often the people on the outside that needs to know if you have a diagnose, not really yourself or the ones that love you.

Brah, you hit almost all the points of what Aurora has mentioned what the song is about. She mentioned in several documentaries and interviews about feeling out of place during childhood….but, didn’t let it bother her much. Her parents would tell her teachers that nothing is wrong with her….let her be…she’s being herself. I love this woman and all she stands for with music and in life. Great reaction. Very good analyze of lyrics and Aurora too. It fits to my interpretation too. Of course it relates to love too, but i interpret it more broadly/wide as society wants to put everyone to a boxes and fix these ppl outside what they thing is normal. And everyone is different. Some are more emotional, some not. Some have different gestures or showing emotions, like different things etc.

Very many people suspect Aurora of being autistic. Even if she may not have experienced that stigma as a child, she definitely has since getting known internationally. Judging her and wanting diagnose her without even knowing her.

She has actually stated that she on the autistic spectrum - she mentioned in one of her interviews a few years ago. To me, her being open about this just makes her all the more beautiful and helps to de-stigmatize neurodivergence. :)

Digging y'all's takes on her messaging and expression. I highly recommend trying out her live performances. First one I ever saw was Runaway from the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize Concert. She was 19 when she played there and it's mesmerizing. Or if you want a little more raw song in terms of composition, same concert but the song title is Murder Song (5, 4,3, 2, 1) I made a weird sound when I first saw it. Like, a sound that I didn't mean to make came out of my mouth without my knowledge or consent. Basically, she's incredible : )

An interesting take. Just a couple of thoughts, admittedly late to the table. The floor pattern was actually inspired by on in the Johnny Depp movie of Alice In Wonderland, which does have a psychedelic or fantastical aesthetic. To me, the Glorious Teachers refers to the religious folk who think they know how the gods play but whose conclusions don’t really apply to humans as creatures - deciding for us who and how we should love. This is consistent with her motivation for writing the song. The 7-pointed star is a symbol that snuck into Aurora’s costumes and recurs in a number of videos. It’s also known as a faery star, which is not misapplied to her.

The song and video for CURE FOR ME is a somewhat different artistic direction for AURORA. She is directly referencing Tim Burton's film Alice in Wonderland (with an adaptation of Johnny Depp's Mad Hatter dance, but also with 1920's flapper inflections, along with a re-creation of a set from that film). She hand-painted the felliniesque masks that were used.
