It breaks my heart that she thinks this is "not such a sad song". It is one of the saddest songs I have ever heard. The lines "I'm left behind with an empty hole, and everything I am is gone, I try to reach for another soul, so I can feel whole." It just breaks me. I'm with you, I don't know how anyone could not love Aurora.

I think she is talking metaphorically with the cut my hands. Aurora is the most un-apologetically authentic person i have ever seen. Thats why we love her so much.
@TomTomson813 жыл бұрын
One can't really say here, because there are people who really do something like that to experience love and attention. The whole song is actually very clearly formulated here. Metaphors are otherwise used to describe things. Like "The Seed", for example.

If you're looking for an upbeat song of her's I think her song Conqueror on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon is probably the most upbeat, at least as far as the tempo and her stage performance.

Thank you for this great video. It's fun to see your fun in their songs. After murder song this is my second favorite song of hers and also the performance. What you see here at the beginning is Aurora as she always is. She also likes to have real conversations between the songs with her fans. It can be about her thoughtlessness or her armpit hair or she gets gifts. She has also talked about her best friend during her tour, which she had for 3 days. She called him Manchesto and he was a balloon that happened to fall from the sky. This is Aurora. Very funny. If she hadn't become a singer, she would also have been a comedian. 😁

Love is an extremely powerful emotion (Yes I know the history of this song) and can be obsessively destructive. Forgiveness for an abusive partner, stalking and many other signs can be manifestations of love. Add lust to the mix and it is explosive. Past generations knew about the madness of love and recognised it. On the other hand two people in love can be the most wonderful thing.

She is speaking symbolically about the blood. The cuts are metaphoric to take out the pain in her mind and heart. She is saying she had to work to change those feelings so she can continue with her world and feel whole again and she succeeded. A lot of her songs are about her growing years. I think she may be referring to her childhood when people didn’t understand her so she had to either stay with the pain or take herself away from it. She’s in NY on the 14th, and then California on the 17th and 18th. You should see if there are tickets still available. 🥰 After that, she won’t be back until next year, unless she decides to take a rest. I live on Cape Cod in Massachusetts and missed going to NY because of a prior commitment, but you bet I’ll be where she is next tour!! Btw, you should listen to “Under the Water” in this Honda concert.

Oh I absolutely cannot wait for the hair concert. It’s so amazing!! I do hope you post tonight!! In addition… someone has probably already mentioned this but there is a whole aurora Haik documentary that’s a lead up to the concert. You should check that out too at some point. It’s really really good and you get to see a lot of aurora and her thoughts about singing, fans…her childhood and things that make her who she is. It’s brilliant. It is in Norwegian, but is subtitled (somewhat well ((I do speak a bit of Norwegian so I feel entitled to judge lol))

Our Queen is a metaphor savant. Don't take anything she says literally. I have heard her say that she leaves it up to the listener to come up with their own ideas of what she means. She wrote and sang a song called In Boxes, in the song she talks about a woman who kills men and keeps a souvenir (body part). Of course she is a kind and loving person and not a psycho killer. Just trying to clarify.

It was one of her career's first live gigs, and later on in an interview she confessed that she had been terribly nervous and shy back in that time. But of course it's natural for you to need some time to get used to be live on a stage, in front of a lot of people, even if they show tremendous love towards you. And if you compare it to her recent shows, you can tell how far she's come from that early days. Nevertheless she was so cute and sonically perfect back then, you can watch and listen to those concert anytime these days and still have fun.

She said that when she was younger she tried being in a group of some of the more popular girls. Seen that she wasn't being accepted because of her just being honest....honest with herself as to who she is. That the others would only accept her if she was more like them. Realized that if she needs to change to be part of the group, she's better off alone. She.....had to walk away.

I think her lyrics are more figurative. The point of the song is the danger of giving wayyy to much. You nailed it, that's she's painting the picture that it's not worth it. Which thankfully she says "I had to walk away:.

The love / frendship you must beg to have is better of not having.... This was a song inspired by herself (many comments explain it, she has told the stories), but other songs: often they are inspired by other peoples stories, even also novelles (one of the stories behind murder song). She is VERY sensitive, and uses writing as an outlet...

Regarding fashion: I am, as you, not the most fashion person around..... I use what I like, and feel "trapped" in a suit. I am boring in fashion.... but that don't mean that I can't admire somebody like Aurora that is in the other side of the scale when it comes to fashion. Her sister makes her clothes, but Aurora is involved.... when she is at home: heavely involved.... she told in an intervju that she and her sister had "workshops" (can't remember what words she used). She has several times said that I wear what I feel at the time... if that mean that she want blue and red, she might take on 2 different dresses at once....

I think the cutting and bleeding was figurative of how far a person will go.
@Geralt263 жыл бұрын
I also think this cutting and blood was a metaphor. It means that someone is doing too much just to be accepted/loved. I will not repeat what justjilie44 said as it would be something similar (the same background story). Anyway love this song:). I guess I would still strongly recommend All is Soft Inside live from KEXP 2018 for future reaction as it is one of my favorite performances and you still did not listen to it :). For other a little rock'isg you can check f.e. Under the Water and Black Water Lilies from the same concert (Honda):).

I don't know if it's very useful to drop such a comment more than 2 years after this reaction video was done, but just in case. Here is an explanation, about the original idea that gave birth to these lyrics. It's from Aurora herself, explaining it on stage (2016) to the crowd. The video is about 4'10'' long, and there's no song, only her freely talking (the explanation really begins at 1'18"). Aurora explains I went too far Song: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eYKpeWWagLCXaZo Hope you'll find it interesting. I myself had like you the same "staightforward" interpretation, and I like how she can use an imagery, in a valid way, to speak of the general mechanism inside the situation she describes, and not really of the situation itself. Even if the "staightforward" interpretation is still valid (because of its mechanism). Anyway, very nice reaction.🙂👍

No, I do not believe you when you repeatedly say "I'm sorry". Can you please give her at least one full phrase before cutting her off. She sang literally three words tonight before you stopped her for a 6,385 word - give or take a few - explanation. I appreciate your appreciating her, which is why I follow you, but you might even appreciate her more if you let the song flow a bit before cutting her off to explain what she's singing about. I don't intend to be mean, but it just makes my stomach clench, even simply anticipating it, and I just couldn't hold back any longer.

I just think he might do well to listen longer between comments, that he would really appreciate her more if he could hold off a bit and take in a fuller piece of her performance. Just give it a try and see how it feels is what I'm suggesting. Also please know that my initial comment, while serious in intent, was really meant to be tongue in cheek in style Larry. I hope you weren't offended.
