Aurora is another of my favorite artists. Fun fact: In 2015, Hua Chenyu purchased rights to a song written by Aurora - the lyrics were translated to Chinese and he performed it as "Escape from Utopia" (kzbin.info/www/bejne/roLNk5aAfMaphKs ) and included it in his album, "Aliens". Aurora did a demo of the song, named "Silhouettes", which was leaked in 2016 - was never officially released: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYKvi35ooa17r5Y Both beautiful but very different versions of the same song.

Aurora is not an angel, she is a human with all her flaws.... but she is so PURE, she is a perfect inperfect beeing! She has the wisdom of an old person, the body of a 26 year old, the playfullness of a child, a smart mind, a musical mastermind and the warm humor of a funny grandmother....

It's also kinda astonishing that a human being can achieve all this at such a young age, or at ANY age. If I'm even half as well put together when I'm 60 as she is now....I'll consider my life a resounding success.

As she said here and has said many times before, she wrote Runaway at age 11-12. In a 2019 article it was revealed that she lost her godfather on Christmas Eve at age 11, so my personal theory is, that she wrote those lines about "face in the sand" and "painting a picture" about missing him. I would love to ask her, if she really ran away from home in grief back then or if she just considered it. Here is the quote from the article, translated from Norwegian: "The stuttering started when Dutch Joop, a family friend and Aurora's godfather and confidant, died on Christmas Eve. During the Christmas service the Aksnes family received news that he had collapsed, the funeral was held between Christmas and New Years Eve. During the ceremony, 11-year-old Aurora felt both her own grief and the sadness of everyone around."

Thx for cool reaction. I really liked to hear from her about her songs. Of course I also like to interpret it by myself and then compare with her meaning. And her lyrics are very interesting, often poetic and open for interpretations. In this one I liked some details (I understood general meaning before I saw explanations, but it gave me a more detailed and specific perspective what it means for her). I also love this distinction between first and second verse. First is about fresh grief when you see someone face all the time and can believe she is not next to you etc, and second is a later phase when you try not to forget and want to have this images/memories but it is fading slowly with time. This is song about grief, sadness, also discovering what is dead that you are not immortal (this tree story). But also that you need to accept this sad things which happened, return to reality and move on - return home and find a "soft place to fall" to comfort you, so you can continue with life. And most mind blowing is that she wrote this song (or "Lucky") when was children (Runaway 11, Lucky 9). These topics are heavy, especially for children. Not many such young persons would even think much about it, not talking about making song in not native language.
