This makes me miss my Dad, who is very much like the one in this film. Only better, because he’s the best.

Gosh this was so beautiful. 🥺😭💖 I have an extremely difficult relationship with my own father and it felt nice just seeing and knowing what a loving one might have looked like for me.

I miss the 90s. These days the girl would be playing a basketball APP on her phone and the dad is miserable in his job and cheating on his wife.

This song always makes me sad because of this scene and how it was used in that movie where Makally Calvin dies. :(

Am I the only (white) person in the whole world who notices that this scene depicts a white dad and a white daughter playing basketball while "My Girl" by the Temptations -- an all-Black group -- sings? My own daughter saw this around age 5 and, never having seen a photo of the Temptations, automatically assumed the Temptations must have been a white group.

I don't know what to say...

@@mukeshchauhan2460 Thanks for your reply. It's just a personal thing for me. It upset me when I saw the white actors and then it surprised me later when I found out my daughter thought The Temptations must be white -- though in retrospect I can see why she might have thought so. I used to think there was a certain "black sound" I was hearing when I listened to soul (black) music, but later I realized that in most cases there is no difference in the sound. And now I feel foolish for having imagined that. P.S. my daughter and I are both white (though now I hate calling myself white)

For me its just blended perfectly.
@RalphDratman3 жыл бұрын
@@arismukti2531 Well, it is a nice scene, if one is not emotionally attached to the song as representing a certain idea, as I happen to be. It could be called a quirk of mine.
@arismukti25313 жыл бұрын
@@RalphDratman yes i kinda felt it too, but it might as powerful as you. My little sister just married last year. I teach her everything from playing guitar, playing basketball etc. I also used to accompany her anywhere from movie theater, favorite cafe, even when she get first driving license. When i stand up in her wedding, suddenly i broke my tears. There is a feeling that i losing my little sister from now on, but also felt very happy, because i never see her smile so widely in those moment.
