Aurorus Borealis Headphone Review - More Finished Than It Looks

Was able to snag one of these earlier this year, thankfully they ship to EU now. Tried switching to an Audeze cable but it ruined the sound. Sometimes they sound disjointed, sometimes not. It seems to image different than other HPs. Sometimes they sound totally balanced, sometimes "off" due to the honkiness. Still need to listen more to it but I think I prefer it with rock/metal due to the elevated mids that gives guitars a "twang" like Grados. Dare I say ethereal? The bass comes off as a bit too light with kick drums and bass guitars. The treble can be slightly harsh sometimes, haven't figured out when yet. I'd say so far it's Stax (without the electrostat-timbre) meets Grado which is great since pretty much all Grados are too extreme sounding for me (sans Hemp and PS500e, haven't tried GS2000/3000) and I've never gotten into Stax. Any plans on reviewing Audio Technicas?

Okay, I am wondering why there are 4 pin connectors - with just 2 wires going into them - and out of them to the drivers? Also, any specifics on the driver material(s) etc? Could the position of the ear "cups" be "raised" on the wire springs headband? This would increase the clamp, and reduce the seemingly excessive space above the very substantial pad.

Great review, I almost bought one last year, but import and taxes raise the price too much, not the manufacturers fault, it made the Arya Stealth that was on sale the cheaper choice.

This seems like the Frankenstein of headphones… like someone made it in their basement with whatever available parts they had… although in haven’t heard it …. I think it looks very unfinished and rudimentary in its appearance…and in this market there are some pretty nice looking headphones so I don’t think this can compete on Looks alone…. I don’t know I think it’s a tough sell regardless of sound … and I own the Arya, he1000, 109 pro, ananda, focal clear and radiance

There are some good headphones in that sub-$1K class. Almost depressing that they all get overshadowed by the Arya and OG Clear.
