I have both hifiman edition xs and hifiman he1000se, and detail retrieval is very similar. The differences are in 3d holography where the he1000se has a bit more depth and in the treble region where the he1000se is more smooth and less grainy.

My personal experience with ANC is that the stronger it is, the more deleterious its effects to the sound of a headphone. I generally consider ANC to be a necessary evil relegated to particular use cases. As far as what I disagree with you about? It’s a lot….. I find the resolution to be good for a Bluetooth headphone. I consider them to be fairly neutral and safe. I think that that’s what Noble was going for. Something that serves all genres of music. I particularly liked the treble range which provided enough air without getting edgy. I thought that image separation was above average.

Hi! If the device is turned on, and at the same time turn off the power - for example, pull 220 volts out of the socket, then turn it back on after a while. Will the DO100Pro turn on itself? Or do I need to turn on the button on the remote control again, or on the Knob handle?

I have also found that lossless files off a hard drive do not sound as good as a CD, when I test them, even when running through the same DAC. I can't really explain why. I suspect that my laptop is not entirely transparent when sending audio out through the USB port. It does give me an excuse to keep using the discs themselves.

Would you say your laptop direct to usb input sounded as good as your Sonore-Singxer rig with the May? Thank you
@wavetheorysound3 күн бұрын
For bit rates up to 192khz I lean the Sonore + Singxer direction. I think the direct usb worked better for oversampled files in my use case, but this probably has more to do with the Singxer maxing out at 384khz.
@Nefty_3 күн бұрын
@@wavetheorysound Allright that is surprising that the pc direct can compete! But I guess the special usb input of the may kte does a really good job. I have the cyan 2 and a pc connected to usb sounds good but less than a dedicated streaming transport.

I’ve owned my E3 for almost a year now. Love them! They are very amp transparent and scale up very well. I went from a Schiit Ragnarok 2 to Mjolnir 3 and now using a Cayin Ha-6A with them. The MJ3 and E3 left me seeking more, the Cayin and E3 are a wonderful combination with the right tubes that add body and warmth to the E3.

The HE1000se bests the E3 in every category, except the sub bass, to my ears. E3 has a more pronounced bass shelf, whereas the Hifiman is slammier, like you mentioned. Its hard for me to pick the E3 over the Hifiman whenever Im in the mood to listen to some music.

@@Innocence44 fair. I also prefer the HE1000se sound, but there are use cases where the E3 has distinct advantages with fairly minimal loss in technical performance.

Heyy! Two things. First, your superb review of the HE400SE pushed me into entering the beginner audiophile space. Ran it with a Fosi Audio Sk01 and came to know what great music actually means. Second, now I'm in this fully into this hole, am looking to upgrade to a semi-endgame setup for a middle-class guy living in India, so about 300 usd for headphones and about 150 usd for a dac/amp. The Edition XS has been highly praised by all including you when it was launched a few years back for 500$ and is about half the price now. Since I go to office on Mons, Weds and Fridays, open back like XS may not be too suitable. I also play games, so read that the Audeze Maxwell will be perfect as they are closed back planars and are superb for music listening too. My question is, do you think I will still pine for that semi endgame setup feel if I buy the Maxwell, or the Maxwell can be called 90 percent of what Edition XS can deliver with a dac amp? TIA!

And if the Japanese want to compete and make an unbeatable product, they are able to do so, but the main problem is the price.
