Look at todays politics in a lot of so called: modern and democratic countries.... Even in countries, which faced, or were the trigger of the WWII, the "Nazis" are still actively acting in the System (AFD in Germany for example, which got around 12% in the last election, and getting stronger and stronger) ... History is like your Spotify music list... After some time, it repeats again...
@xibungo715 жыл бұрын
It's one thing to read about these horrible events. It takes it to an entirely new level when you see images, artifacts, or see a survivor who speaks about what happened to him / her. I would not be here if my grandparents did not emigrate from Europe a century ago. As a young man, I visited Yad Vashem in Israel. It was very disturbing and I actually cried. Ten years later, in Germany, I visited Dachau. They had artifacts, photos, and exhibits, with explanations in Hebrew and German. I could read the German. It was as disturbing as my visit to Yad Vashem, and I actually cried. Ten years later, in Cambodia, I visited the Tuol Sleg Prison in Phnom Penh, and the nearby Killing Fields. The Khmer Rouge, like the Nazis, kept meticulous records, and even took photos of people before murdering them. I had the same reaction. Last year, I was in Prague. Before my trip, my sister asked me whether I'd visit the nearby Theresienstat concentration camp. I said, no, I've seen enough. Every now and then, though I need to see something like this, to remember these unfortunate people and horrific events. And to remind myself, as a Holocaust survivor said, "there is not place for hate in your heart, because hate created the Holocaust."

Seeing these beyond heartbreaking pictures of innocent beautiful people caught in a merciless hurricane of hatred, I only wish that I could have sheltered them with wings of love and carried them far away from the murderers who had not a spark of compassion in them. Forgiveness is an empty word. Hate hurts the hater, but never, never can there be forgiveness for the murder of innocent people - anywhere. Not to forget means to be kind to others, to see that we are all human beings, and live in the love born of that. My grandmother came to America from Hungary when she was a young woman. When she arrived in the US, she literally kissed the ground because here she would not be persecuted as a Jew. One day she got a letter saying that all her family had been killed by Hitler's henchmen. Perhaps her family is part of this album. But to me, they are all family, and I mourn each and every one of them.

I recently attended the funeral of one of the last living survivors of this death camp, and she was at 4 others. A friend had her convinced to go to another camp because conditions were rumored to be better. The last second she decided not to go. Everyone that did go we’re shot to death on the side of the road. I still have contact with my girlfriends uncle Abbe. He’s 94. When I see him I know that I’m looking at world history. He was secretly released and brought his family to America through Louisiana. He became a very wealthy millionaire here in Atlanta, GA. So, for those who say this country is so bad and they can’t make it here, I’d say your wrong.

What is most upsetting to me, is not just the millions murdered by the Nazis but the way they murdered their victims. They simply watched as thousands upon thousands died slow agonizing deaths either by disease, starvation or literally worked to death. The diseases were caused due to the appalling living conditions. Those death camps and getthos, besides been overcrowded, did not have running water or proper sanitation facilities of any kind. Almost no one had soap or any type of hygiene products, making typhus and dysentery rampant. Prisoners at these camps were given one set of uniform and no underwear and a pair of shoes without regard to size and of course no socks. They were made to work moving rock, metal and glass with no gloves or any protective gear of any kind so injuries were high with very little to no medical care. Some were tortured to death in all sorts of manners such as frozen to death, beaten to death, drowned and burned alive and of course the millions that were gassed, shot and hanged, from babies to the elderly. They were stuffed like sardines in cattle carts without food or water and no sanitation facility of any kind and some of those trips took days before they arrived at their destination. Their victims were treated worse than animals cause even their German shepherd dogs had better treatment. I'm very sorry but Germany will have to live with that shame for the rest of its life.

From my personal experience, no one imagines how painful it is for many Germans to talk about this topic, it hurts like a stab in the heart and I was stupid to be indolent with this topic and make unsupportive comments on Facebook and they blocked me and neither He gave me time to apologize, now I will be more careful, I feel stupid, now I have learned that there are very delicate and very sensitive issues in which the only thing the person wants is for you to extend your arms and surround them with a lot of love, compassion, affection and that you remain silent and let me cry next to you, while lying on your lap, for me it is moving, I think it is time to forgive, the world desperately needs it, we cannot continue to live with resentment and hatred in our souls, to err is human and to forgive the brave, Germany is a beautiful country that deserves another chance and even if I wanted to, you cannot go back in time to make amends for the damage, we can only have mercy, forgiving is not fair tify the damage, forgive is a grace, an unmerited favor that you give and liberate you and give you peace. I feel really embarrassed.

In the photos , you see a few prisoners who are involved in herding the new arrivals along . These prisoners know what the camp is - a death camp . Sometimes , quietly , they would urge a younger mother to hand her child over to the grandmother , or even a stranger who was older . This was because the young women would be spared for harsh labor in the camp , but then would have some chance of survival . But all women who insisted on staying with their children were pushed into the line that led to the gas chambers .

Que imagenes fuertes que he visto, soy chileno los Alemanes no tienen perdon de Dios, tantos niños que mataron.
I wish I could add to the brilliant and heart rendering comments I have just read here....I have always remembered what Edmund Burke said "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." We cannot just watch, we must act.

This is why I despise the Democrats comparing the death camps and concentration camps to the border detention facilities. These people had NO choice. They were systematically murdered through NO fault of their own. People in the detention facilities don't have to be there if its not up to their standards. I am so sorry for the pain and suffering you endured. I hope you are at peace now. 😥

When small children die as refugees or immigrants, that tells you that the US is rotten to the core. Disgusting country after Trump made it mainstream to be a piece of shit.

Ana, e ainda temos em pleno século 21, pessoas defendendo um torturador, conivênte com o preconceito seja ele qual for em nome da família e de Deus, sendo que não agrada a Ele tais preconceitos. Será quando que a raça humana evoluirá?

German was the powerful country in that time. Europe was under German occupation. Other countries helped German to search, find and deport jewis to Poland to be killed... France was worse sent more that 1 millions jewis to be killed. It was just a wrong time to be borne as a jewish. But where was God? How can he allow this killing? Is God exist for real? I am crying always when I see this pictures

I caught scabies once. It was possibly the most uncomfortable I've ever been. The itch made poison ivy seem more like a sunburn. Of course thanks to permethrin, I was completely recovered in about a month. The lice and mites ran unchecked in the barracks at these camps. The misery from that alone would have been terrible. All the crap we're dealing with right now.. it's very important to take account of your surroundings, sternly address the issues, and strive to come up with effective, humanitarian solutions. It's also so important to be educated about the holocaust, slavery, etc. All this helps you make wise decisions. The racism here in the states is an issue that can't be ignored. What I learn is.. their is a time to destroy buildings and antique architecture, piecesof history. The problems we're facing don't call for that yet though.
