As an Australian born in Britain, I must say Auslan seems a lot more intuitive and representative of the actual word. I’m sure a lot of hearingpeople could pick up words from Auslan that would be totally lost in BSL

I loved the interaction between the two presenters. So cute. BSL and Auslan are such amazing languages.

Really interesting to see the two side by side and compare the difference as well as the similarities.

Many of those BSL signs were Australian signs before 1980.

Nice video! Although BSL and Auslan would be completely different languages right, not just different accents? ~:~

Good point! Correct. I cant remember why I put in accents. Yes BSL & Auslan are different sign languages - similar but still different.

Excuse my ignorance, but I’m still confused as to what BSL is, I haven’t heard if it before? Is it spoken in Australia and is indeed a different ‘accent’? If so, from an outsiders perspective it appears you’d need to learn each language to understand it.

Yes the video says different "accents" but really Auslan and BSL (as well as ASL, and all other sign languages) are completely different _languages,_ not just accents/dialects, although these do exist within the languages as well. ~:~
