You’re the first booktuber I’ve heard mention Aussie April this year. I think it used to be driven by Six Minutes for Me. I’ll be reading Sam Neill’s new memoir. I’m counting that in the Aussie tradition of claiming all the best Kiwi’s for ourselves 😂

Great idea to read Aussie authors in a month. You have heaps of books by Australians. Probably more so than me! Onya (as we say!). Cold Enough for Snow sounds like a book I'd read.

Love my Ozzie authors, in particular Tim Winton and tho I fell in love with Chris Hammer after his Scrublands, his others haven’t done it for me (as in dnfs). Jessica Au and Claire Keegan both exquisite and earlier today finished The Wakes by Dianne Yarwood ( loved it), which lead me to other Ozzie reads so as well it a long weekend. Happy Easter frm NZ 😊

I love Australian fiction, especially books that are set in the outback. This month I’m planning on reading the third book in a series by Chris Hammer called Trust. I also really enjoy Garry Disher’s Paul Hirschhausen detective series. Last year I discovered a debut by Hayley Scrivenor called Dirt Town and I hope she writes more. My only complaint is that it is difficult to get Australian books in Canada. I do have some luck going through Waterstones and sometimes Amazon. I find it’s only the really popular authors such as Jane Harper that make it to Canadian bookstores, which is really a shame because there are some wonderful Australian authors out there.

I picked up Thirst for Salt by Madeline Lucas this month. It just happens to be Australian. I have not heard anything about Aussie April this year and sort of assumed it had run its course. It is really difficult to find Australian books here in the US. Many of the Miles Franklin and Stella prize longlisted books are simply not available. It makes it really hard to explore Australian fiction in any meaningful way. I appreciate your efforts to highlight Australian literature, so I can keep trying to find titles/authors to discover.

I’m currently reading Homecoming by Kate Morton. I’m not too sure about it just yet. Maybe I’ll get to another Jane Harper this month too!

The Book Naturalists Book Club is reading Call of the Reed Warbler by Charles Massey who is an Australian author I believe.
