I love how if you can't find it you make it yourself ❤😂

I know I’m a year late but I have a question. That bed looks so great, we may attempt to make something similar. Wondering how come the slided in bed is still pretty far out into the seating area? It doesn’t appear to be “folded” as far as it could go, like the mattress doesn’t end up in half, but a bit more forward into the seat area. Is this necessary for extra strength? Cause otherwise we could make it so there’s more room to sit on those little benches? Hope this question was clear in writing, this was so hard to point out with words. Wonderful build btw!

Great tour, thanks! Basic and practical without compromising the comfort you need. Exactly the type of rig I'd like to have a go at building myself.

Thanks for all the inspo guys! I’m 22 years old and just moved to Australia and bought a van on my own. I’ve built it all from scratch and it’s been such a journey and I’m nearly done, but I watched a lot of your vids and you helped with so much! Keep it up, I hope all is well. Yewww🤙🏽❤️

That is awesome! So glad you got some help out of the videos. See you on the road sometime!

@@saltyvanventures Yh see you on the road or the surf haha. Quick question, what did you do for your mini surf roof rack ? Looks like it was a DIY

You obviously learnt from your 1st prototype in Australia ! no gas for me, just a suitable inverter to match an Ikea induction hob !

This was actually our second built, first being in new Zelanda and 3rd in Australia but yes we have learnt a lot and dialled it down to exactly what works for us now.

Congratulations. Very intuitive and extremely functional. What about investing in that digital translator, fully audible, small and not expensive, that has been on the market in Europe for about 2 years now. Love that shower solution, the whispy-quiet fan, your water set-up system and your adjustment to opening the door on the side. The only thing I raised my eyebrows at was the separation of the driving cabin and the emergency inlet - a design solution necessity. Perhaps with the next van you might adapt that kitchen/cooking bench to be adjustable, sliding cooking island allowing you to make use of the cabin seats? The magnetic fly screen has encouraged me to think about using a DIY on my doors and windows. I don't like what is being offered commercially. All the best with your salty adventures. Hope you can catch some nice fresh fish ( catch & cook) along the way. 🇦🇺 😎

Thank you! The issue with these hiaces is that seats sit on top of the engine so unlike the more modern vans , it’s not convenient to try and make use of swivel seats on these other style vans. Yes you totally should, if you don’t like what’s available commercially just make your own custom version!

Love this design . Im thinking of doing this layout in a vw t6 ( no pop top ) only change I think I would have to do is put bed at seat height because of lack of head room . Do you think I could use adjustable table as bed base and seats as rest of bed and just fold back mattress 😮

It's a shame that such a configuration cannot accommodate a two-piece demonstration. (lol) Oops. I spoke too soon. Minimalist builds do always seem best for us traveling types.
@saltyvanventures Жыл бұрын
Yes! We much prefer the minimalist build over the “let’s try jam as much crap as we can into a build”

Thanks for another interesting van tour. I don't think 9mentioned insulation for this one. Do you have any? Cheers
@saltyvanventures Жыл бұрын
Yes we laid the same polyester insulation as all our other vans actually.

Great build guys. If you could choose one of your builds which one would you go with? Hiace or Transit?
@saltyvanventures Жыл бұрын
Transit for sure. For long term travel it’s nice to have a bigger van and one that we can both stand up in. Also the transit is like driving a comfy car unlike the hiaces which are more like driving a slow truck
@michaelcoy8021 Жыл бұрын
Good to hear - have short listed the large 470e dually Transit for a future build Yes it long at 6.7m but the 4.1m cargo area will create sufficient comfort for the occasional Oz trip!
