Well explained ‘how to’ video boss! How did you get about with the laws regarding putting the battery in a box and venting it? Are you just not planning on getting the electrical system certified by an engineer? Genuine question and not trying to be a smart ass man. I appreciate all your videos and you make such good content!
@saltyvanventuresКүн бұрын
Great question. So I have had this van engineered and certified before these new rules came into effect a couple years ago. Upgrading the battery is a bit of a grey area if it should then need to be upgraded to the new standards. In my case I chose not too. If I were to built this van today, yes I would need to install the battery in a vented box to the new standards.

I know its been a few years but thank you for sharing your journey on solving the over weight problem. In America its our belly that needs the super springs < I'm only kidding America < There was a time in America when we can have joke about things like this. I love solving problems, its the journey not the actual solution. Its that inner feeling of doing yourself using the information that's available. And when you get to work and your solution can be repeated. Its an amazing feeling! The journey is putting the part on the same frequencies, the tone of the vibration and putting the 3 to work together/ balance! Every thing has adjustments but there are degrees. You have to find the right one to fit that problem. GREAT JOB!

7:31 sorry I gotta pull you up there mate, that's a common mistake engineers make. What you've got there is a *cold* water heater. It heats up cold water. 😂 Wouldn't do much if you put hot water in it. But seriously, great van, you've got me rethinking more than a few things.

G'day mate, what is the 3D modeling program you use to design your van layout? I've used "LightRay 3D" for many years but it's very glitchy. EDIT: Don't worry, I've just seen your first video of this van and you mentioned "SketchUp Pro". ;) Funny I actually looked at SketchUp.

Legal costs ???? What the hell kind of tyranny is that ?
@saltyvanventures12 күн бұрын
Cost to legally convert it to a camper van. Engineering, legislation and government fees.
@MrSilvertech12 күн бұрын
@saltyvanventures I have absolutely no idea what that even means. Nobody has the right to know what I have in my van or what I use it for. There is no legality here. This seems apauling to me

@@saltyvanventures I was accepted to immigrate to Australia in the early 2000's but I decided to stay in Canada. During COVID I thanked God I did not end up there. What has happened to Brittan and Australia? Have you all stopped to realize how bad it's getting? What direction you are headed ? Do you need a license to take a piss ? Engineering??? It's a camper, what engineering? 🤦🏻

Open the back doors. Lay fitted rails or frame across across. Cover with cloth for a shaded or protected work area. Wind your rope for a clothesline. I'm surprised that an engineering type would think that weight high up is good. Ask YT and maybe Google about building with cardboard. If you don't like cardboard from pallets of water (drinks aisle) (they're stressed), try big box stores or buy moving house boxes from Bunnings. Two or three layers gets quite strong. Light too. Paint white, draw/paint black or dark lines for that tongue and grove look you like. Or maybe you can find some veneer in Bunnings or free offcuts of same at a cabinet maker's. ARB might have a seat for you. I don't expect it would be cheap. Shopping often, even at higher prices, is a good way to show appreciation to the locals. I avoid fast food chains though.

How about the gas lines? Did you use copper tubing to connect to the oven or the braided metal hose? (I’m not sure of the actual name)
@saltyvanventuresАй бұрын
Yes I used copper tubing for the main gas run and then I used braided flexible tubing just to connect the main line to the oven as it was in an awkward position. This is legal in Australia if the flexible tubing is less than 1m in length
@LaurenSepulveda-q8mАй бұрын
@@saltyvanventures Love it thank you! The gas bit is the most intimidating to me since well I could die or cause an explosion if done wrong…I’ve found some resources since that were super informative and alleviated some of the scariness of it. I’m glad to know the length restriction, that’s certainly worth knowing. Thanks again!
