Video 4/4 of my series about Thai people in Darwin, Australia! Had a blast making these videos and meeting so many people! Thanks to Ling App for supporting this channel. Start your language learning today: ling-app.com/?referrer=ThaiTalkPaddy

Have you heard of David Long? He developed ALG "automatic language growth" at AUA in Bangkok. He talks about how pronunciation and grammar can be negatively affected (in some cases permanently) by trying to talk to soon without enough "comprehensible input" (at least 600 hours worth).

I’m Thai . I like the way you are positive thinking about Thailand 🙏🏿🙏🏽🙏🙏🏻. I’ve been to Darwin a few times when I was as the crew’s member. It was hot like Thailand, but it’s unique( in the good way)🌻🌻🌻💋🚗

Honestly, this one brought tears to my eyes. Rapid Creek market was the only place that relived the constant home sickness for Chiangmai. Its like a breath of fresh air speaking to the Thai market folk's. Never fluent like yours Paddy but a few words makes all the difference. There's been a huge increase of Asians coming to Darwin for the last 12 years. The market needs a change of location, size, and frequency. Have you been to Rustys market in Cairns yet?

A very nice family owned outdoor restaurant opened a couple years ago near Selephun, Roiet province (Isaan). One of the family members ( owner) has lived in Darwin for many years. It was the first time I heard of a Thai living in Darwin. I visited Darwin over 30 years ago- very humid and hot and a special wildlife habitat from most of Australia. Totally different than Sydney. You have a gift to charm those ladies, Paddy.

Ahhh Darwin....so many memories for me in the early 90's . I shipped out of their by plane to Troughton Island and then locked up for 4 weeks on exploratory rigs or floating offshore production facilities. Dry workplace, so monk like abstinence until the trip home. So many drunken adventures ( Travelodge Darwin bar had pics of the rigs on the walls back in the day). Loved the video, Thais are so industrious.

Darwin aint that small , I mean it hasnt got a large population but it IS the gateway to Australia from the North. As to the most Asian city, that would go to Hurstville , a city in Sydney.

Paddy: Please, how do you say this sentence in Thai "I was adopted by Swedish parents when I was 6 weeks old and I grew up in Sweden and I don't speak much Thai", please? If I went to Thailand, I'd be using this sentence a lot
ironically it's more close to Indonesia than to Melbourne!
@franksaunders65345 ай бұрын
That type of fluency, you're not getting simply by living in Chiang Mai for one year. There's more to 'the Paddy story' than you're letting on but your Thai is quite good, there's no disputing that.
