Aussie tuna mornay with with mash potato and bread. moreish filling serves 8. recipe written below.
1 and 1/2 kg potatoes peeled chopped boiled and drained
4 eggs hard boiled peeled and chopped
2 large spring onions sliced thin. this is optional and something i have added over the years.
cooked potatoes add
salt and peper
30g butter
squeeze mayonaise
dash cream
dash milk
1/2 of the spring onion
1/4 cup parmesan or any cheese
mash the add milk til creamy cover set aside
mornay
90g butter in large saucepan
1 can creamed corn
2 x 425g cans tuna drained and broken up
250g shelf cheddar grated or any cheese
1/4 cup plain flour add 1 tea sp mustard powder and 1/4 tea sp paprika
1 and 1/2 cups milk
melt butter in saucepan
add flour mix mix well til no lumps
cook out for 1 min
take off heat add milk and stir til smooth
put back on heat til thickened and coats spoon
add 1/2 the cheddar cheese mix til smooth
if doing mornay on own once cheese melted turn down to low add all ingredients cook for 5 mins stirring every 1 min
if doing in oven when cheese melts take off heat
pre heat oven to 180 degrees C
grab oven dish
to melted cheese mix add other 1/2 spring onion, tuna and corn mix well then add hard boiled eggs stir them throu gently.
put in oven dish
cover in mash
sprinkle rest cheese over top
break bread or rolls or anything into pieces press half into mash starting around edges then throu middle
place on baking tray
bake aprox 40mins til brown and lush
serves 8
will last up to 3 days in fridge covered
can put in bowl cold and nuke.
